Diablo® III

Roleplaying or Stereotyping?

I know that there are limited choices in D3 but technically it's still an RPG of sorts, jusr a very combat-oriented one. But genre isn't what I want to talk about.

I'm a straight Aussie male, wife and kids yadda yadda, and I've got a lvl 60 DH and also a barbarian. I also have another highish level barb. All of them are male characters. Typically I don't really care much what they look like, might add some dye occasionally if the colours really, really clash and I look like a clown. But mostly I really don't give a stuff. What you see is what you get and I let my weapons do the talking.

Recently though I started a female monk, just for curiosity's sake. To check the dialogue etc etc. Anyway, I find myself spending a fortune on dyes, even jumping from game to game just to locate the particular dyes I want. I will wear a slightly inferior item if it actually looks better. I swear, if there was lipstick I'd use it!

Has anyone else had this experience or should I go and see a psychologist?

Just buy them from the AH, cheaper than the town vendor even.

I made the second one specifically to play with my son. However, he had to go somewhere for work and left his gaming PC at home, and well, I was having fun with the big fella...

@ Asmodeus: "wife" knows I'm bonkers :)

Thanks for tip re the dyes at AH. Hadn't thought of it, and that makes me feel better lol

i'm a female monk too. not too keen on the voice. when i think "monk," i don't immediately correlate that with an eastern european woman.

teh type of character u select to make/play first, theres also highly chance u will select that type of character as ur first main in other games...

i play alot of MM online games, and i always select the archer or long range type characters...

Yeah, I think I agree with that. Certainly with the 3 Diablo games my first created character was always an archer. In fact my fave character ever, in any game, was a javelin specialist amazon I played in Diablo 2, with points in bow too for different elemental damage etc etc. Really versatile character, both ranged and melee.

It's a pity really that the characters in D3 have so few options. I miss having half my keyboard assigned as hotkeys :)
