Let's not derail the thread guys.

your video is gonna get everyone posting about it lol :D
Bump
Nice EF fooya. I still waiting for my dream one to dump all my gold in lol
Go look on AH now for Witching Hours with 259 Strength... There's 2 exact same stats put up for auction at the exact same time, could be a coincidence I guess O.o
Witching hours has 3 random affixes on top of the fixed ones...way way too much of a coincidence.
I can't see why anyone would care about duping. The sellers shouldn't care their godly items are still ridiculously priced. The buyers should care because it would make more of those items available.

So at this stage in the game's evolution what is the problem?

its a loot game. whats the point of grinding for loots when others can just duplicate gg items?

bump.

I respect that its important to you and certainly to many others- but there are also numerous players like myself who don't care about how I compare to you, but only compare about how I compare to the potential maximum in the game.

For me success in a game is getting as close to the maximum power in terms of the gear that exists in the game.

A good game will allow me to do that in about 100 hours of play time for a single character. More than that and it becomes work.

So, while I can't say if any of my gear was duped- I'm thinking not- because they are hardly elite, I can say that if duped gear helped me to get to the maximum of available gear in that 100 hours then I would readily welcome people duping gear and then selling it in the AH.

A far better solution would simply be to make the gear available as drops.
Bump .. duping ruin d2 i dont want it to happen with d3
I haven't gone through blizzards ToS but duping in a game where real currency is exchanged for items could wind up having legal implications especially if its unjust enrichment and if these items disappeared or a 'rust storm' happens and items are removed from the game.

Blizzard needs to be vocal about this and actually ADMIT its a problem.
Someone with twitter post on https://twitter.com/BlizzardCS
I don't like duping, so this isn't cool..

Not to be ignorant but has anyone confirmed that the list provided by diabloProgress appropriately describes a duped item? eg the link followed actually means what you think it means? I by no means condone duping but i'm curious if the process in which diabloProgress collects data means what everyone is interpreting - aka dupes. Can someone confirm/explain how diabloProgress gets data and indeed if it describes duping is occurring?

AFAIK Diabloprogress' database only contains profiles that have manually been updated by users on their site. You type in a bnet profile and imports the stats/items from all its high level characters.

If only 2 or 3 people are listed as using the same item it usually just means that the item was sold to another player and the associated bnet profile and/or diabloprogress hasn't been updated yet.

If you see 5, 15, 30+ people using the exact same item, it becomes pretty obvious that its a dupe.

Yes but you can go to the bnet profile from diabloprogress to see when their character has been last updated and if they are currently still wearing the duped item.

If the item was a sale/trade between the two, one person would have it and the other would not obviously (Usually the first person on top of the dprogress list will not have it).

Edit: I''ve updated the OP of this thread with information we've found so far

Keep adding more duped items to the list guys.

Gem prices alone prove that there is a lot of duping going on.

My guess is that the duping has been going on since short after release and that Blizzard is aware of it but can't fix it. Admitting to that would make many players quit which is why we won't see a blue comment on this until it's fixed (which might be never :/)

Even if all duping methods were removed tomorrow, the game economy is already broken and can't be fixed because Blizzard can't remove duped items that were sold for real money.

With Diablo being a grinding-for-loot-game, duping obviously ruins everything. So I'm trying to cash out my gear now and quitting until

- All duping methods are removed
- A Ladder/Season-System is added and gem prices stay above 15M throughout the first season

And that probably won't happen. :(
It's really too bad - After 1.05 the game started to be lots of fun
Guys I've updated the OP of this thread with a list format of all the duped items/suspicious accounts we've uncovered so far.

Let's keep that list and this thread going until Blizzard well at least give us a "We are looking into it".

I'll check this thread periodically and update the OP, feel free to add more suspicious accounts and duped items to the list.

Bump!

Is this considered a duped item?
what about this?

http://www.diabloprogress.com/item/13389117
http://www.diabloprogress.com/item/9859542

http://www.diabloprogress.com/hero/pewpewcannon-1310/Devilblade/27867791 or http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Pewpewcannon-1310/
looks to be the new version of http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/malphiis-1272/hero/27867791

and if I were to guess it would be duplicate items due to 1 time rollback allowed per account and people repeating with new license key for whole character worth of gear.
(so hope they can improve that system)

no this is not duped, this is legit trades between these people.

http://www.diabloprogress.com/item/11213409 = duped
http://www.diabloprogress.com/item/13389117 = duped
http://www.diabloprogress.com/item/9859542 = unlikely

first two are being added.

Rollbacks could be a possibility but with my dealings with blizzard when I was selling items on RMAH the check/securities they have in place will make this very very unlikely (I sold a very large $$$ amount of items on RMAH during a 2 week period where my account was locked 11 times and I had to speak to a Blizzard management type person over the phone directly to deal with the issues)

They are aware of proxy servers/vpns etc, the dupers would have to go through a lot of hassle to claim hacked and repeatedly dupe items with fresh accounts.

And even if they were able to do this it's already ruining the economy, dupers have unlimited funds where they are buying out anything they see meeting "top barb tier gear" and bots are just outbidding everyone on these items to be duped later and re-sold.

At least this last paragraph above is what I think is happening right now since I'm constantly looking at items that are going for way over their value and simply disappearing and I had a conversation with Fookya yesterday where he's been having the similar issues.

Oh and to update my OP, the mace that sparked my investigations seems to have gone to a legitimate person from the looks of it, so he just really really wanted it. It would just be a massive conspiracy to think dupers are tracking our progress and put it on this character to make it seem legitimate.
