The Wizard forum has a link to a spreadsheet that claims to have the proc coefficients for every skill in the game, and every class. You might want to check it out.
Yeah, but reinventing the wheel sucks sometimes.
Finally i can release the revised Proc coefficients for all monk runes.
Remaining abilities with proc coefficients
Maybe ill change some layout stuff sometime, but for now they are done, unless you request some particular change.
Hope it's of use :)
EDIT: fixed. Time for me to sleep

^ Thanks a lot, I gave it a thorough look.
Got a couple noobie questions on how to interpret this though,

I found it through the eu-forums monk-section. Thought you guys would like it :D
I am on EU, by the way.
Thanks for all the hard work done here. I'm having lots of fun again on my little monk:
Hey LordRhaal. I have been watching your videos lately. They are very interesting and I have been testing your builds with my monk.
However, there a few thing I would like to bring to your attention about your videos. There are always written words pop up, explaining valuable information. I appreciate that but can these written words not be in red colour for certain background like in Keep Depths? It hard for me to read and I get terribly dizzy if I try to.
Also, sometimes the videos will have change of colour as a whole. I know this is to make it interesting but sadly, I get dizzy each time that happens.
I would appreciate if something with the text colour can be done and the original colour of the gameplay maintained. Thank you, my Master. :)
First of all the % represents a chance of what exactly? of proccing Life on hit only ?
Life on hit, Freeze, stun etc. As far as i am aware it also determines the chance for a crit to spawn a cyclone, etc.
If I have lets say 1000 life on hit, and I attack with empowered wave bell ( 44.4%) this means I will heal for 444 hp from that attack? or it means it has a 44.4% chance to heal 1000 hp on that attack?
Every time you attack with a skill which has any proc coefficient, your LoH is multiplied by that percentage to give you the healing from such a hit.
Empowered wave attack is split into four different attacks. The first bell lands two wide aoe hits, and the following beam hits twice for a longer thinner aoe hit. Each of these strikes have a 11.1% coefficient (or 0.111 multiplier).
This means, for each hit, your 1000 LoH is multiplied by 0.111(11.1%), giving you 111 heal. Four of those hits will heal you 444 from the full wave.
In this scenarios, isnt an AOE % always preferable than single % even if the aoe % is lower ?
It is hard to deny that AoE is more desirable in a game like diablo. Yet, we still see many using, for example, thunderclap which has a large single target component. It all depends on the pros and cons of the skill as a whole i guess.
It does have a small aoe, try it out.
What are your personal conclutions worth highlighting out of this?
There's nothing much new to be found, i think all skills have been tested many times by many players. There is one small thing i would like to point out though.
It it important to note that using an attack which is segmented (it hits several individual times), you cannot used the summed up proc coefficient to dertermine your chance to freeze or stun for example.
I think it best explained using a made up example. Let us say you have a piece of gear with 100% chance to freeze on. You want to compare two attacks which both has a summed up proc efficient of 100%.
The first ability hits one time with 100% proc coefficient. The second ability hits 5 times with 20% Proc coefficient.
The first ability will freeze 100%*100% = 100% of the time. Every single use of this ability will freeze.
The second ability has 20%*100% = 20% chance to freeze every hit. This will be:
(1-0.2)^5 = 32.768 % chance to not freeze during 5 hits, and thereby
100% - 32.768% = 67.232% chance to freeze at least one time
What i am trying to say is, proc chances such as freeze stun etc, work better with large sources of proc coefficient than hits that are segmented. You must be aware that you cannot directly use the summed up proc coefficient to determine your freeze chance when using abilties that are split into several hits. It will be a bit lower.

the texture changes is meant for psychological purpose to emphasize the focus points of combat, so that the attention span of the viewer is restored during such moments. But yes, I will try to lower the duration of color change to accommodate those sensitive to color flashes >:)
Ok guys, I hope you are paying attention to the Flowing Stances and keeping track of the Slayer Techniques.
In E5, I introduced the first "Forbidden Pattern"
The Last Reich
Spirit Generator(continuous) > Conviction >> Faith in the Light >>> Sweeping Wind buff >>>> 7 Sided Strike finish.
must reach the execute of 7SS while the duration of both Conviction and Faith are still in effect. >:)
It's a tactical exam to your skill and attack speed test to your gear. >:)
Use it without Exalted Soul to see if you are fit for the Initiation. >;D
first of all I'd like to thank Raahl for the great work on the guide. It made me really excited about playing the monk and gave me a lot of insight into the workings of the class :)
I play on the EU server (here's my profile: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Ragnarock-2172/hero/21209875 ) and my 'standard' dual-wield cookie cutter build has become this:
However, recently I've been having quite a lot of fun with the Wave-of-Light-based build you can see in my profile: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#aedYjQ!cYU!YabcbZ (in case I change it).
Right now I play with it on mp5, dying only occasionally. I think I had a lot of luck when I bought my 9.5 crit/7 WoL crit shield for 13k gold, which synergizes really well with the build. It feels like my gear could use a lot of improvement for heavy WoL use, since the shield was the only change I made when switching from my dual-wield build. It would be nice to get 50-60 lpss on the headpiece (instead of globe health) to replace Transcendence and a faster weapon with spirit regeneration. It seems that I have hit a wall with my gear, though, since when I look through the AH even small upgrades are very costly (I have 10m gold right now and no idea how to spend it). I have followed Raahl's, Pfiffle's and Nameless' general suggestions for gearing up, but now I would like to ask the masters here for some advice on what can be improved (at a reasonable cost...).
I would also be interested to read some comments from you Enlightened Ones on my WoL build :) Perhaps my skill and rune choices are not working together optimally? The way the build works right now is that I drop a lot of bells (566% dmg with 55% crit!), positioning them to hit as many monsters as possible, and quickly recover spirit in between the bells with Quickening (48% crit, but my attack speed could be better, right now it's 1.53). Air Ally also helps a lot with spirit generation and takes some heat off me. Faith in the Light gives a huge damage boost for two bells in a row and provides much needed crowd control. Dashing Strike increases mobility, allows for better positioning and serves as an escape mechanism. Finally, Circular Breathing gives 5 spirit/sec together with Chant of Resonance. I would be quite happy to replace the mantra with another one, but I don't want to cripple my passive spirit regen (having some on a weapon would be nice, but I can't afford one with the same stats as my current one). A comment on the exclusion of Sweeping Wind: in my experience it costs too much spirit to use together with WoL and does not work so well with WoL's knockback.
greetings EU disciple, the faith in Odin is shown in your very name. ;D
that build looks good, it represents the Force-build style mentioned in the Book of Cancir.
Just replace air ally with Cyclone Strike - Eye of the Storm, and Wall of Light to Empowered Wave and ur all set. ;)
Thanks nocturnal it was very helpful
You know I think what would be very nice to add is the time factor on the spirit generators
Maybe timing the full 3 set punches ( with a 1.00 APS) weapon, and then averaging the sum of coefficients to get the % proc average per second of that skill.
That would be interesting, just an idea.
I have another advanced version of my sheet here that im working on. It has things such as damage, attack speed, etc. Also Damage/sec, Spirit/sec, Proc coefficients/sec (@1aps, so its a multiplier and simple to use) stuff like that.
Only problem is i got lazy when i realized i need to find perfect attacks speeds of every rune and the 3 stages of the generaters. I tested some of them and i got fluctuating results of speed when standing still in town, over many recordings. So i just kinda shelved it for now.
It is a good idea though, but it will take a loong time to get correct and i need to reinvent my methods i think. Da future.
Thanks for the input Raahl. Odin's presence is strong in me. Many a time I have felt his patronage over my AH purchases. After all, he made the best trade of all time, giving up an eye for infinite knowledge.
Can you elaborate a little bit more on the skill change suggestions? I understand Empowered Wave, since it has better damage/spirit ratio. I will try it out, although I like the large upfront damage of Wall of Light and less bells means that monsters stay closer together for consecutive casts. I'm not sure if Cyclone Strike will help with that, though, and I really like my Air Ally, but maybe I should hold my judgement until I test it.
Do you have any suggestions about my gear?
your gear looks fine. >:)
just a few things I'll recommend, get a lifesteal echoing fury with lifesteal, and crit dmg / or socket.
replace the left right to get attack speed + crit chance, vitality, and +xy damage.
and find an amulet with 500 LoH + dex/vit + crit chance, and crit damage + xy damage.
work on those 3 things and you will deliver the Ragnarok in the pvp arena when it comes. ;)
log into your US region and check friends request, it's so that we have a mean to communicate ingame ;)
that build looks good,
but do me a favor, and don't post a thread about it in forums, the consciousness of the monk community is low, and they do not get it at this point. Not to mention can bring consequences.
Feel free to share it with us in here, though, we welcome your spell-craft talent. ;)
Burning JC007 I'm sorry that I'm the one that's gonna break this down to you, but hear me out anyways.
