I have ran act 4 several times for myself and helping others to get the infernal machine plan. The last time I ran it I had it on mp5 which is usually very doable for my gear level. This time fighting Nekarat he would kill myself and my WD friend (who has slightly better gear than me) instantly with the pool of fire that he puts on the ground. It was unavoidable that we would die if he cast it on us. Even if I ran very far out of the pool my health would sink to 0 and my corpse would be 10-20 yards from the pool. I have about 600 All Resist with Warcray: Impunity on and and 35k health.

I'm having the exact same issues. The fire on the ground seems to hit no matter where you stand and is doing an insane amount of damage. Pretty much instant KO...

Same goes for me. Seems like the damage just burns away all the remaining hp and i'm dead. In some cases i die like 3 times (solo) on mp3 just to take him down. The only way i can be safe, is to use Spirit Walk but if it's on cd and he places the fire ring spell, im done for.

Yep it can beat you even after the warden is already dead. It goes trough all my defenses and the diamond skin causing 40-60k damage even at lower mp levels.

I recently got D3....so this was the first time I have fought him and only on normal.....however the fight isn't even close...came here to check and see if I was missing something about how to fight him and seen this post. Anyways I have tried him several times on my Barb and it isn't even close......he still has full life. This is the only thing that has given me a real problem yet.

Glad to see I'm not the only one.

This is the ONLY keywarden to give me issues. And of course it took 6x at MP5 to get the dang plans (mind you I run all other wardens at MP7 with no deaths). And each run I died at the warden at least once. Usually 3-4x. This battle is nuts.

yup, instant KO to me at MP3
as i'm running away full sprint, it hits the ground and i still die.. seems unavoidable |
Struggling even at MP1... Got close to 800 AR (buffed) and my 34k life is emptied in less than 2 seconds. Never dropped any plans.

Just want to add some support to this thread.. I'm only on my first play through on Normal.. Have really been enjoying the game so far but this encounter has killed the game for me.. Playing a Barb and not even hurting this guy before i'm toast.. I must be really bad at games. Tried so many times but it's just not enjoyable dying so easily and so much.. Shame because i really wanted to carry on playing this game but this encounter is a deal breaker for me.. Just cant get past him..

-- Bump --
I've Been farming for 28 hours straight in an attempt to get the machine plans on MP5. Making sure to have a full 5-stack before killing warden. Even with the 50/50% chance, I have somehow drew the unlucky straw every-single-time in close to 40 attempts... HOW THE _ _ _ _ is that possible?!! Don't answer that... I'm just sayin... Anyways, I have pretty much been able to take him on every time, except for the "invisible" instant kills. I'm assuming it's this "pool of fire" shot people are talking about, but on my screen there's nothing. He can be attacking my boar or my scoundrel clear across the screen. As I'm running around... BAM! 56,000K HP goes from full to completely gone (aka DEAD!) in roughly 1 second flat. WTF is that? I have a Asus GTX 670 DCIIU. Needless to say, it's not a crappy video card issue... Fact is, there is nothing there, but you can certainly tell that the warden casts "something" that pretty much one shots you - regardless of where you are, or what kind of armor /resists you have. My Stats: 56158K HP 2345 Dexterity / 43.4% Dodge Chance 4638 Armor / 60.72% Damage Reduction 770 - 820 All Resists across the board. Sometimes, I'll throw down a sentry (guardian) and run across the screen and lay another. I'll run back and forth between them laying traps for him to run in to when he loses interest in my followers. So, I can be across screen in my "guardian" shield which reduces the damage I take from enemies 15%. I'll be stacking that with "numbing traps" passive, which further reduces damage 20% when he is hit by my traps or guardian turrets. Yet, there I am, completely out of site and BAM! I'm dead... Or, I can be running from one to the other - mid flight with not a single attack from the warden in sight and BAM! I'm dead from some invisible insta-gib attack. Well, whatever... All the dying and money on repairs aside - I'm a bit frustrated at not getting a drop out of 28 hours straight of attempts on MP-5 with a 5 stack every time. That is absolutely absurd. I have friends that got the drop on their 1st attempt, and some on their 4th, 5th, or 6th attempt... But seriously??? close to 40 attempts over 28 hours and nothing???? What's up with that... Aww hell... maybe tomorrow! ;-)

What I've figured out so far from my last 12 attempts at killing him on Nightmare:
Vampiric Knockback Jailer Healing reduction DoT (linked with vampiric?) Big fat aoe under him Sprint The only way I was able to kill him was by keeping him slowed and staying out of reach at any cost. Good luck Barbs. |

if u guys need help, just get 5 stacks, find the warden, then send me an invite

Gotta be honest, its pretty !@#$ty to lose a HC character to a mob i wasnt expecting and that i cant even run away from. Was playing normal on MP8 (which i was rolling), then this mob from off the screen casted a spell, i teleported away and still died due to a DOT (?)
wtf =\ |
the problem with this warden is the debuff it almost shurely will put on you starting the battle, its the debuff for 75% Less life regeneration.
Lol, this just happend to me too.
I was playing HC Wizard at lvl32 on normal. Was not expecting the keywarden at all. I lost a Star Ruby and Star Amethyst, and the 3-part set where you get 30% more experience. NOT fun at all :( |
MP 7 1.3k all resist/4.5kish armor/45k hp, terror demons just hit too hard, kw especially. The key is to use whatever cc you have available (stuns/freeze, etc..). Its a !@#$% for melee, ranged though not so much.

I cannot kill Nekarat either. I om going to try to lure him away from path to next level and leave him (or is it a her?) behind. Nightmare level - Wizard level 52 - follower is Templar.

he KO'd mine and a friends hardcore barbs, lvls 49 and 52. All other keywardens are a piece of cake but this boy is in a whole other league it is impossible to kill and just a death warrant for solo hardcore characters. they really need to scale him down or something.
