Calamity marked for death and custom eng

Forgive me if its been covered, have not done enough experimenting to verify, but:

Does the passive custom eng. double marked for death created by the calamity or just the skill?

I would experiment with it, but it is completely pointless. You'll be hitting the same target fast enough to just re-mark it and refresh the timer anyway.

I highly doubt it. Special procs like this on items are not like the original. For example Calamity's proc only lasts a few seconds, Lidless Wall shielding a few seconds. Vigilance's proc a few seconds. It's not like the original skill in length at all. Can't be bothered testing it though =D

True, Ive noticed that with multiple targets. Kinda sucks in a group game with
uber bosses, you mark the boss, then everyone gets the DMG increase, but then
you have to protect yourself from some minions and it ends up transferring the marking.

Im debating the usefulness of custom eng, 6 spike traps dont seem like that much
of a benefit, it was when I was using scatter, but I prefer echoing blast now.
Sure six is nice, but its a big hatred spender, damage is nice. Wish they would
get a new rune for scatter and build it into the custom eng passive.

I also wish it had the sentry cooldown reduction built into it too.
Sucks to have to choose either guardian or quicker cool down.
Makes the idea of a specialized sentry pointless.

So far the only real benefits I see from it are longer lived caltrops / sentries, and the 3rd sentry.
Probably better off with something more useful.

Thanks all, Cheers.

Do not dismiss the viability of the 3rd Sentry.. It will add to your Passive DPS when encountering enemies and if you are engaged in long fights, such as in ubers or MP10 bosses.

About the Mark, it's not really "that" useful. With enough IAS, it sticks to a target enough and refreshes it quite nicely too.

I think it's a great proc with high AS, it frees up a skill slot... which is really beneficial for boss runs.
