Diablo® III

Updating Setup Files.....

I haven't played D3 in about 3 months now, but decided to check out the new patch and bosses. I double-clicked my Diablo 3 shortcut on my desktop and the usual screen that 'checks your setup files' popped up. It's been updating my files for the past hour now. All sarcasm aside, the screen is on an endless loop. Do I have to reinstall the game now?

AccuKORE,

Permissions is the next thing to flush out. Try each of these steps one at a time as necessary.

Delete the Diablo III mfil and tfil files in the main Diablo III game folder along with the Updates folder, then try it again.

If you use an antivirus app, temporarily disable or even uninstall it (only if you know you can reinstall it later).

Run the game as an administrator by right clicking the desktop icon you use to start it and selecting that option from the dropdown choices.

Create a new user account in Windows and add it to the administrator group, then log off Windows and back in with the new account and try the game.

Try moving the game to another folder such as C:\Users\Public\Games\Diablo III.
