Diablo® III

account security

i didnt find a section exactly appropriate, but i think this is close enough.
I was looking through my spam-filtered junkmail, and somehow an e-mail from blizzard got caught in there and I was lucky to catch it. It warned me that my account was under investigation because i was supposedly trying to sell it. I don't think i've even logged in for over three months now, but i might get back into the game sometime. I was wondering what was going on, is this happening to a lot of people? is it a common thing to have people get their accounts stolen and sold?
I had to reconfirm my account information and i'm still wondering if i'm safe or not.

It sounds like it was a fake phishing email that was send, most likely by a hacker, in order to try to gain access to your account. I would disregard that email.

Here's a link with more information about phishing emails:

I get about three or four of these emails a month (between my Diablo & WoW accounts). Most of them are pretty obvious as fakes just based on the fact that Blizzard employees are NOT that illiterate. Here is a copy of the latest one that I forwarded to hacks@blizzard.com (with links removed of course):
