Diablo® III

Manticore VS Yellow

It seems that in the last weeks Yellow XBows can drop with super DPS. Way more DPS than manticore. They also seem to drop with white damage so you can stack elemental damage from gear.

From my observation, no matter what is the DPS or the number of socket or critical damage, if you can get 200k DPS with a manticore for 500 milion gold, you can achieve the same from a yellow XBow for 100 milion gold instead.

Why Manticore are so over priced ?

EDIT: I am speaking of high end rolls, not 30 mil ish stuff.

I don't think a Yellow can roll as much dex + as high crit damage as Manticore can at the same time.

Edit: Forgot about socket too

I see Yellows getting 1450+ DPS without attack speed boost. That means we could see a perfect Yellow DPS around 1650 including IAS soon while Manticores can not roll over 1400 including IAS.

Do you get my point ?

Rare x-bow can be good if they have no element dmg and hight dmg + crit+ dex + socket and if u use itens like, inna belts, and SoJ
So yoo can get a hight dmg, but the attack speed of manticora could be better in some cases causes it get attack speeds and for some build it would be better, like eletric ball and some others...
But you alrealy get the point x-bow are cheaper cause there are low numbers of peaplo looking for it, that's mean Ofert x search
With a small search > Offer
So when less peaplos looking for it that get cheaper!

I see Yellows getting 1450+ DPS without attack speed boost.

upwards of 1800 DPS, but this is a slight bug imo allowing +minimum physical damage to boost the maximum base before the maximum is applied

let me demonstrate....
take a look at this http://screencast.com/t/fXTq7BCeWyTq
it is a hellion with a listed 1507 DPS with 1053 - 1688 damage
316 min
440 max
44% damage

however Hellions are listed as
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/hellion-crossbow 421 - 514 base max

this isn't matching up (514 max base + 440 max affix)* 1.44 = 1373... so why is the top end 1688?

what I THINK is happening
assume the base minimum spawned between 413-421 and landed on 416
then the minimum affix of +316 bumps it = 732
the game sees 732 minimum and sets the max base which was anywhere from 498-514 to = 732
the max 732 then gets + 440 maximum = 1172
and * 1.44 = 1687.68 (rounds up to 1688) exactly what we see

assuming
X bows IIRC are restricted to the 1hander potential 352min 447maxis

the 421 minimum base can be boosted to 773
the max will then track 733 + 447 = 1220
the best 50% will then yield = 1160 - 1830 damage range
with best possible 1.21 APS will give it a potential top end DPS range of
1808 DPS

this bug also explains why my 1hander is able to get 965 top end, which shoudln't be possible
http://screencast.com/t/OMPTA6Kj1TGg

the exorcist is about 50 minimum
the +261 minimum sets that to 311
the max is then set to 311 and +364 maximum is added to make = 675
* 1.43 = 965

uhhh... did you forget to calculate the 'weapon damage %'?? yes you did.

The only reason why they go for Manticores.. I believe.. is because of the 2 Sockets it has.. Other than that.. I prefer Yellows ;) Cheaper too.

It's not a bug though; It's just that the stat "minimum damage" has a confusing and unintuitive definition in-game. Minimum damage adds to both min and max, while maximum adds to only the max. If we look at rubies that used to give +10-20 damage, they now give +10 min, +10 max, not +20 max. In the patch notes when they added "average damage" to the searchable properties on the AH, they said something like X average damage would list items with X min or 2X max damage.

1800dps xbow means nothing if the range is still 1100-1500......min-max range number has to be very high to get the best out of ur xbow than relying on the big bolded numbers of the xbow dps....

Yes Rares can be and are better than manticores. Additionally using a Rare that has physical damage vs elemental damage (like the poison on a manticore) also means you can get better dps from things like SoJ and Inna's favor to the point where Inna's Favor actually out performs high end witching hours.
