Jewel Cost References
Mats: Prices based on 100% Scavenged Flawless Square gems, Tomes of Secrets, and Gold.
=======================================
--- Perfect Square : 30k Per Craft
__________________________________________________

--- Radiant Square : 50k Per Craft

Math:
50k+(3*30k)

= 140k Total craft cost from scratch
__________________________________________________

--- Star : 80k Per Craft

Math:
80k+(3*50k)+(9*30k)

= 500k Total craft cost from scratch
__________________________________________________

--- Flawless Star : 100k Per Craft

Math:
100k+(3*80k)+(9*50k)+(27*30k)

= 1.6m Total craft cost from scratch
__________________________________________________

--- Perfect Star : 200k Per Craft

Math:
200k+(3*100k)+(9*80k)+(27*50k)+(81*30k)

= 5m Total craft cost from scratch
___________________________________________________

--- Radiant Star : 400k Per Craft

400k+(3*200k)+(9*100k)+(27*80k)+(81*50k)+(243*30k)

= 15.4m Total craft cost from scratch

Now subtract those total costs from whatever the current value is for the gem you want to make and there's your profit.

I personally use gem crafting as a banking system because I have a hard time holding onto my gold.... They're a solid asset to have.

Let me know if this has been useful, I have some more quick reference guides I may post if so.

And if you sell on AH, don't forget to take into account the 15% AH fee.

Thanks for the reminder

Depending on the price, sometimes is more profitable to just sell off the mats. I can't say what the breaking point is since, like you said this price always changing.

If you see flawless emerald squares go for 4k+, it's probably more profitable to just sell it if the higher up gem prices have not caught up with the lower.

Good info

Cost of materials can be significant as well.

The cost of mats are always changing, that's why I say just go with what you pick up. Best farming efficient gem profit is all from your own mats.

when you sell a gem, do you set the price or does the AH set the price?

You set your own price.

But the AH will display the avg last 10 trades or something and will always sell the buyer the lowest priced gem available.

So you can set the price at 100x the avg price, but it probably will never sell.

@agentpewpew

You're correct in that it takes 27 flawless squares, but your math is saying it takes 27 perfect squares.

You need to find 27 flawless squares and craft them into 9 perfect squares.
