Diablo® III

Is my account flagged for getting bad drops?

Holy cow! Its great to see that people are so much friendlier on the forums now.

The sad fact of statistics is that even with a 99.9% chance of winning you could easily be the person that hits the .1% every single time. It is a misperception that if you buy X number of lottery tickets over X amount of time that your odds of winning increase. They don't. You have the same 99.9% chance of winning every time and the same .1% of losing. Unfortunately for some, they happen to be in that .1% perpetually. An illustration with real numbers - if 1 mil people are playing with a .1% loss rate that means that 1000 people are likely to be losing at a given roll of the dice.

However, if the masses of players over the masses of runs continually appear to be within the .1% then there could be a problem with the system, based upon how the system is set up in the first place.

I for one do not prefer to compare playing this game to a lottery because as another poster pointed out I want a better chance of hitting the jackpot from a computer game I purchased rather than from gambling where the house always wins. Where I live there is at least one casino within easy walking distance of me anywhere I go and I've never gone to one of them because I don't like gambling.

I like the feeling of progress and reward for my efforts which is painfully rare with D3 as it is. The comparisons to D2 have been made ad nauseum and the preferences for a different drop system and itemization have been expressed by many, as well. D3's itemization and drop system is simply NOT rewarding for large numbers of people.

my recent legendary drops have been god awful and I haven't had one in about 4 days i think.

At least for me, it seems to be streaky, I get that most legendary drops will suck, that's understandable. I did seem to get a lot more (1-2) per run when 1.05 came out.

Now I can go 3-4 runs with nothing, I usually do almost full Act 3 runs. From Paragon 58-60 I got 0 legendaries. I'd be happy with 1-2 per run, but my luck does seem lower. When they do drop, they do come in a little more bunches.

Overall, I think they lowered the rates, whether it's good or bad is another issue, but I think they lowered rates and just didn't tell us.

rolling 2 bill items prob cna be close to that, This forum should be udner cryablo. Also bro im sure items and the lotto relate to probability. Doing volume of grinding does not guarantee good drops just increases the chances, derp.

I can't prove this, but you can't disprove this, and Blizzard won't say anything (as usual), but the reason drops suck is that the items Blizzard has put up on the RMAH aren't selling, and until they do, Blizzard will not allow others decent drops that could be put on the RMAH for lower prices.

Yes, I believe Blizzard puts items up on the RMAH. I said it in another posts. Why would Blizzard only get $1 from an RMAH post if they could get the entire amount?

Now perhaps some people are saying, "Oh, my drops are just fine, I found X decent drops in the past X days." Of course you are. Blizzard will allow some drops to get through to ease suspicion.

This would not surprise me at all.

yea because $250 items are worth the risk of reputational damage. Its not about completely proving or disproving but about having enough factual evidance to make it highly probable. Why would blizz cap items on the rmah? they get a 15% cut, if they were SO greedy whats the purpose? RMAH isnt selling because the market is flooded my old IK belt was like 60 mill before the patch i sold it for 4. Its supply and demand, you dont need a degree to work this out.

Tin foil hats must cut of blood supply to the brain.

I know it is probably rng, and that is what I usually attest these to, but with max MF, in the past 2 weeks nothing is dropping. I typically never went more than 2 runs (basically a full a3 clear) without a legendary (usually multiple per run), but now have 8 runs in a row with nothing. Either my luck is horrible all of a sudden, or something changed.

I have been playing the game since release pretty religiously almost every single day, but am now starting to get sick of it, and may take a break as farming really seems pointless.

Tell me this... who in their right mind is crafting radiant star gems and auctioning them at a loss?

Drops have been horrible last few weeks no doubt. Above the normal. They can deny they dont' mess with drop rates after patches, ect. They do. Drops are always better. Of course they are more people are back playing and those first few days they want people to keep playing.

On that note I don't get how I can get 50x pairs of glad gauntlets, 50x frost gauntlets, 40 andariels helm, 100 pus spitters/warmongers/wormwoods. When there's a lot of crappy legendaries out there. How the !@#$ do you keep getting the same ones. Stuff the .1% RNG up your %^-.

I was wondering which thread the stupid noobs went to. Drops are fine noobs.

Did nobody remember reading Bashioks posts?

Look at these threads by where Bashiok posted

https://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5151724113

"The auction house obviously provides an incredible service to allow for very easy trades between characters, and essentially blows out the wide range of items you could have available to you at any one time. So, in fact, the AH has to be a factor in how we drop items"

Then this one: This was a clarification post in answer to his previous quote (above). Yet again he admits it.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5150764997?page=11 (top of page 11)

It says "we have to factor in how many items are being found by players and how quickly a player can gear up by 'sourcing' items from others through trade and the convenience of the gold auction house."

"If we say "a player should have X power in Y amount of time through drops" and completely ignore that the time factor can be reduced by simply having access to more drops through trading and the auction house, players would be gearing up far quicker than we've determined they should"

"Obviously everyone wants the best gear possible as quickly as possible, and us attempting to mediate that through design that takes all factors into account is not always going to be a popular notion."

People, this isn't news. They don't want people finding gear all that quickly, they do in fact control it.

Yes quoting myself from last night. Tinfoil hats aren't necessary. The proof is in the pudding from Bashiok's posts. The initial post, then the clarification post afterwards, both pointing to controlled drops.

The only things that need to be known are:

1) They don't want people gearing up that fast
2) The AH is a factor in the drops due to the availability of all the items
3) They don't want the economy flooded

Just bad RNG I guess.

I've been in the same boat. And... I can't even sell the mediocre stuff I've found.

The only gold I'm making right now is the gold I'm getting from my Act3 runs... which is hardly anything.

@SonicTitan

That last one by you nearly killed me. Had to call out for the defibrillator :D

The thought of Blizz targeting single accounts is completely stupid, the thought thats drops are controlled from time to time is plausable. if it is done it will affect everyone. The reason your crappy stuff and my crappy stuff arent selling is ah flood and if Blizz are taking steps to stop this i cant complain.
