I remember a conversation my Monk had with Tyrael.
The monk is a very religious character and at one point there is an exchange where my Monk mentions that her gods are empowering her. Tyrael replies that he doesnt know her gods but believes they are winning.
If anything, there ARE such a thing as gods in Diablo. The question though is, do the high heavens even have a god or do the angels rule like the demons do in the infernal hells?
I remember when my WD was having a conversation with Tyrael, and he mentionned that there was once a dragon who was the embodiement of all evil and there was a hero who was the embodiement of all good, and that the dragon was ripped apart for every type of evil and that what's left of the hero may be the crystal arch. Or something like that.
Perhaps this embodiement of all good was ''god''.
Barbarians pray to Bul'kathos or something like that.
The monks are religious, and have their own gods.
You got it. Anu, the creator or first intelligent being in the universe had aspects about him that are what the prime and lesser evils represent today. What happened was that Anu's evil side ripped itself loose from Anu and as a cohesive whole was named The dragon Tathamet. They fought endlessly until they both came at each other with an awe inspiring attack and created the heavens and the hells. Basically they both falcon punched. Anu's spine spun upward to create the crystal arch and Tarhamet's corpse became the burning hells. In the wake of this cataclysmic event the virtues and aspects of Anu were then created. Thus we have characters like Diablo and Tyrael.
note that Tathamet had 7 heads.

+1 thanks for a good laugh.
HC characters are like "I've heard your stories over and over by now..."
Arch Angel Inarius (What you would consider god) was captured by the Lord of Hate, and was tortured and imprisoned in Hell. His wings were ripped of, his eyelids cut off, and is forced to stare at infinite projections of himself as an abomination. His current state of being is unknown. Which is why I wrote Diablo 3: Lord of Chaos.
there is no real god in the diablo universe, although there were rather god-like beings at 1 point according to cannon info.
before the universe was in existence there was only Anu. a dragon-type guy that was heavenly, but he was not fully pure, so he decided to cast of all his sin. this evil manifested itself as Tathamet, the prime evil. so for time uncountable and then some, Anu and Tathamet fought trying to gain control of whatever space they occupied, after a fair amount of time they both released their full fury, creating a big-bang-equivelant, starting the universe, Anu's body became the foundation of the high heavens, and his heads the Angiris council, while Tathamet's body became the foundation of the burning hells, and his heads became the evils, the 3 predominant heads became Baal, Mephisto and Diablo and the 4 weaker heads became Andarial, Duriel, Belial and Azmodan. hope this has cleared some things up, although I think there may be some gods or somin.
