Checkoffs: high end pc (6 core i7, 12GB ram, SSD, multiple high end video cards, WIN64). System tweaks: HD file indexing shut off, video ansiotropic filtering shut off, antialiasing mode shut off, texture filtering=high performance, triple buffering off, vertical synch off. D3 tweaks: vertical synch off, texture quality low, shadow quality low, physics high, clutter density off, anti-aliasing off, MaxForeground FPS cut to 60, HardwareClass tested at 1 & 2.
This rig runs max graphics/max fps in every other game including WOW. I have a premium ISP package which has been tested several times. The game is very frustrating to play and impossible to play in hardcore because of the lag. FPS seems to hold, but latency goes crazy. Initially I blamed it on the WW Barb graphics but it happens with other characters also.
Do you techies have any other tips before I finally remove D3 from my HD? Through the process of elimination I'm starting to conclude that Blizz has server issues & may possibly be reducing resources/costs as the player base disappears.
BTW, in the 1,000 hours of play before my break I found zero set items but several legendaries, most of which were not very good. The first night back, three set items (all usable) and four legendaries (3 useable) rained on me; since then, no set items. The infamous RNG seems more complex than just a simple algorithm.
