On the 'berserker rage' passive for the barb:

"You wouldn't like me when I'm angry" - Bannar the Berserker

Obviously a reference to The Hulk.

big dune fan here too. the huge sandworm "shaitan" and stilgars corpse were great. theres also a ghost in a treasure chest in the sewers named "raziel" possibly a legacy of kain referance for those familiar. loved that series.

oh ..LoK: Soul Reaver.. such a perfect console gaming experience. so good.

My favourite reference is stilgars corpse in the desolate sands , I've always been a big Dune fan

I have yet to see Stilgar's corpse, but I'm a big Dune fan too and I enjoyed finding the big sandworm "The Great Maker" in Desolate Sands. Sounds like there is more than 1 Dune reference in the game.

There are certainly a plethora of Easter eggs and inside jokes within Diablo III, and it's fun to see which ones I might have overlooked along the way, or only chanced upon during later playthroughs (such as Development Hell). :)

What are some of your favorite discoveries?

I like discovering that the developers are reading and thinking about Easter eggs instead of game content, pvp and mechanics.

that's not a developer by a long shot....

my favorites are the fetishes! you know you go way back to the 70s when you see those little things from trilogy of terror running around! i laughed at my latest find as well... The Lamentation! a bump for conan the barbarian from 82! "crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!!

Raziel is an angel in (apocryphal) Christian mythology, which is probably where Legacy of Kain got it. D3 might be referencing the same mythology, but not referencing LoK directly.

Also, "Stark Winter" is a common phrase. In fact that phrase is probably where GRRM came up with the name Stark for his books (unless it will be revealed at the end that it's an Iron Man prequel). D3 is probably just using it because it's a common phrase, not to reference Game of Thrones.

Most obvious reference of them all - Kate Beckinsale - Demon Hunter - Underworld Series.

in act 3 caverns of frost and icefall caves; if you look at some parts in there, the lich king's helm is in the background

I thought the "Data Miner" was funny, honestly all of the references are awesome, one of the things I enjoy about the game.

LOL You're such a fool... His job has NOTHING to do with game development, whatsoever... All he does is promote healthy discussion amongst the community, while maintaining the forums and all it's users.

Get a clue man, take out your frustration on someone else.

EDIT:

On Topic... I know it's not an easter egg... but the event in a3 rakkis called "Crazy Climber" (i think?) where the Purple mob at the top... his title is "Eater of Manflesh"...

God that gets me every time. Honestly who came up with that name?

I Ran into Bashiok last night in the Dahlgur Oasis.

This one is intentional in the game design... they wanted us to be able to kick his !@# if we wanted to :)

In Whimsyshire there is a tombstone that reads "RIP Pancakes". What does it means?
