First, I placed a max bid of 15,000 on an amulet.
The live bid became 847 in my auctions tab.
Then I browsed around and saw an amulet at say around 956.
I figured, 'why not bid on both? I have to win one of them.'
So I placed a max bid of 15,000 on that amulet as well.
In my auctions tab, the first amulet jumped to 15,000. I was "not winning" this item. And no "2nd amulet" appeared in the auctions tab.
I believe I had effectively bid against myself, forcing my max bid to be reached.
I should think bidding against yourself is a bug. So I hope I have the right forum to submit this 'error'. I don't care to get my fake money back, chances are I'll lose the auction, and get it back that way. However, I thought this might be a rare occurrence, and would share.
Your bid and the max bid you previously had should have been refunded to your account. The best way to check if you're bidding on the same item is to check through your active auctions. Even if the amount is different in your search compared to your auction tab, if the item is identical (same name, stats, etc.), then it is the same item.
There is a bug that the auction tab is delayed compared to the search.
