Decent ideas. I like the Diamond, Skull, and Demon Heart. I had a different idea on what to do with the Demon Heart: Add a fourth portal to the Infernal Machine, a portal that would lead to an Uber Azmodan/Uber Diablo fight. The Demon Heart should drop there as it fits with the "demon organs" motif.

I also thought that, instead of adding in new gems to portray different, single elemental resistances, they should just allow Bracers and Shoulders to roll sockets. Then, add to the current gems a bracer/shoulder socket effect of +x amount to resistances (Ruby - fire, Topaz - lightning, Emerald - Poison, Amethyst - arcane). They would probably have to make a new gem for cold resistances. As for the Diamond, they could add in the only way to get it is to combine a certain amount of all the other gems into a Diamond so the effects would combine into all resistances. Yeah, I know a Diamond is its own kind of gem and isn't a combination of rubies, topazes, emeralds, and amethysts, but hey...video game logic!

These ideas are good, but they really make your character powerful. Are they meant for some new hard mode wer gonna have or something? cause with these the game just becomes too easy and less enjoyable. Lets even say they get dumbed down to a point theyr balanced with other gems.

Then maybe theyr useful, but they should only drop from bosses/certain mobs/ or low drop from mobs in certain acts in special conditions, or you will just clutter ur bags with them and it will be confusing.

They're designed to make the builds more diverse. Having one Wizard that has +100 Health Regeneration vs another Wizard that has +5% Chance to Chill on Hit is boring and not diverse in the slightest. Instead, have a Wizard that has +2500 Health Regeneration vs another Wizard that has +40% Chance to Chill on Hit. One would easily be able to tell the Wizards apart, therefore diversity. As to the problem of them making the characters to powerful, why not just undo the several Inferno nerfs?

How about making some of these gem types craftable after you find the other types of gems. Maybe 4 types you find and 4 types you craft from those.

add sapphire, skull and diamond but make a max of 3 unique equip others.

Sapphire-
Helm- Adds X% chance to chill on hit
Weapon- Adds X% dmg as cold
Other- Adds X% chance to freeze on hit

Skull-
Helm- Adds 342 health regen
Weapon- Adds 2% Life Steal
Other- Adds XXX(X) Thorns dmg/ Adds Life per resource spent/ resource regen

Diamond-
Helm- Adds XXX armor
Weapon- Adds X% lightning dmg
Other- Adds 40/60 All Resists

Make the rest unique equips.

Great idea OP. Because the skull/diamond/sapphire gems are from Diablo 2, Blizzard will not add this to D3.

Getting new gems is a good idea but your list is horrible. You are not considering game balance... Remove the list of elemental damage gems, you are not going to find enough to list out all 6: holy, fire, lighter, cold, poison, arcane. Skull, Bone, and Demon Heart is asking for too much and most of the effect listed will never be used by any player, and some overlap with the other 4 color gems.

The only thing that is good is the Rainbow, I made a few changes...

Solid Rainbow (Only drops in Whimsyshire)
Helm: +6-80 Resistance to All Element
Weapon: One of 8 Magic Properties (varies)
1.0-5.1% Chance to Knockback on Hit
1.0-5.1% Chance to Immobilize on Hit
1.0-5.1% Chance to Slow on Hit
1.0-5.1% Chance to Chill on Hit
1.0-5.1% Chance to Freeze on Hit
1.0-5.1% Chance to Blind on Hit
1.0-5.1% Chance to Stun on Hit
1.0-5.1% Chance to Fear on Hit
OR
Weapon: Increases Damage Against Elites by 1-14%
Other: +1 Random Magic Property

There is a 14 step to level up a GEM please consider the next time you post. And your maximum should not exceed diablo3 design.
btw gems should not be random so I think the against elite idea is better
