Diablo® III

Does D3 Not Work With Windows 8?

I just got a new computer for Xmas and it's a windows 8 OS. I'm having trouble installing Diablo 3 on it. Has anyone else had this problem or did Blizzard say anything about this?

You would be better off asking this in tech support. You will also need to provide a little more information on exactly what the 'trouble' is.

Well yeah but I figured I'd try to solve this myself first. Is anyone playing Diablo 3 on windows 8 (which btw I'm trying to "like' it as much as I can, but honestly the whole new "metro" thing is so confusing...)

Ive got windows 8 on my laptop and D3 works fine on it. I just hooked my laptop up to my network and copied d3 from my pc took all of 2 minutes and then I was able to play.

Windows 8 pro here, game was already installed and upgrade went smooth with D3 continuing to work fine.

Could be several things I suppose, have you tried a different NV/ati driver ?

introduce a much more intuitive, friendly, social networking environment.

The Metro / Modern UI is anything but intuitive and friendly.

LOL, here we GO again with the hate bunch.

I think it is, yet you do not...wow a miracle ;0-0

It's awesome because it evolves us into a TOUCH world instead of being mired into our OS with a antiquated mouse device. Moving forward, nothing to see here.

It's also got a lot to do with mobile computing, and all the OS makers addressing that, if you haven't noticed already ,,it might be a fad, but people LOVE it. Except a few here ;)

I absolutely enjoy my WP7 device and will upgrade sometime soon to take advantage of other programming languages. TO me, icons got too TRENDY so I left it all behind, kinda like leveling up in D2 ( though I enjoyed the game during our online play) .

If it works on Windows Vista or 7, it will work with 8.

Vista = v 6.0
Win7 = v 6.1
Win8 = v 6.2

Until there is a new input method that makes the mouse completely redundant, it's not going anywhere.

Uptake of Win 8 is barely 2%. For comparison, Win 7 is 45%. There are reports of disappointing sales of Win 8, well below Microsoft's projections. People love it huh?

I'll stick with Win 7 at least until Win 9.

I'm sure you can probably run diablo 3 in compatibility mode.

All of our modern titles are fully compatible with Windows 8. Technically you can get most of our legacy titles to play on Win 8 too, although sometimes it's a little rough. The B.net menus for SC1 are a bit wonky.

Most of the players I've seen with game problems after upgrading to Win 8 just need to reinstall their video drivers. Occasionally they need to uninstall/reinstall the game. Usually nothing more extreme than that though.

As a personal anecdote, I only had one game (not a Blizzard title) that didn't work after upgrading. For that one I had to copy a fix file into its main directory. That's as wacky as it's been for me, thankfully. ^_^
