Diablo® III

Monk Changes and how we feel about them;

(Locked)

I figured that if you went for a spirit regen build you'd go with a Skorn, not dual wield, because the only really good spirit regen passive is only for 2-handers and the dmg output would be much higher. Especially when skipping that spirit regenerator. And anyway, to reach those numbers of spirit regen that you need to use lashing tail kick infinitely on users, your will have really bad survival at least. Probably quite low dmg compared to the usual build. And that doesn't seem good against users at higher MP.

A lot of us have tried things and then gone back to the same as always. Atm using TR for farming and then Thunderclap + SW for ubers. Now I may put WoL on my bar sometimes instead of Blind, but not sure how much of a "new thing" that would be. Seems pretty much like the same build to me. Much more is needed to create more viable build options.
I tried to keep an open mind and with a 3x increase in damage to cyclone strike. thought it may be viable. I've spent almost all my gold with very little good to say. The skill is great in theory and in my opinion is very close to becoming a viable option. However, until the skill can be cast without interrupting other skills it will never be more than a utility skill. I know a lot of the population likes the idea that it is utility skill but yet no one has it on their skill bars.So obviously that means it needs to be more than a utility option to be considered. We already have enough utility skills: dashing strike, blinding flash, breath of heaven, LTK based on the rune, inner sanc., tempest rush( for those who use it as an escape and not for tr build), and I feel I'm forgetting one or two. With at most 2 slots for utility it's hard to go with CS.

On a side note I'm still disappointed with mantra of ret. , mantra of healing( - circ.), even that m.o.e 's backlash rune isn't on par with conviction in a dodge based build.

Inner sanc. Is still the last pick and although the mystic allies get a buff they provide crap for utility( the skill I forgot ).

As one poster has said attack speed is huge and I agree but frankly I can't afford it. I'm sure if I had 60% Ias spirit regen wouldn't be a problem.
bumpinggggeeee!!!!
It is insane how fast the questions flew in. Hoping to get an answer, because I sure as hell do not believe they'll ever answer us in this thread even if they should.

They've said they are working at better communication with the community... Pfffff
Exploding palm didn't really need an upgrade on explosion damage. I would much rather see an upgrade or a rune that gave the explosion a larger radius.

about the 5 buffs, but I think this affects monks a lot too:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/7710222398?page=11#212

The sprit generators? ...I'm just pointing out the facts of how Crippling Wave and WotHF "hit" more monsters @ ~100%+ "outside of the primary target" when FoT-Thunderclap only does 35% two-thirds of the time "outside of the primary target" (ie AoEs).

But, YES I HAVE tested numerous new builds to the standard "cookie cutter" on PTR in the last few days and I can verify switching (from "cookie cutter") to Quickening + WoL-Empowered Wave took MINUTES off my times runs in MP 8 and 9 while also letting me farm MP 10 more effectively - I used to stick to MP 8 but looks like MP 9, possibly 10 because of the "buffs."

HOWEVER, high attack speed (~2.00) and crit chance (~50%) is required for the massive amounts of spirit from Quickening.

*Feel free to see my profile on the build/gear I've found most effective (@ my budget)

So cheer up Monks, we got a lot more from this patch than the other classes :) !

I just looked over your gear... how do you even survive on MP8 or higher? It looks like your Res All is around 800 (with OWE) and you've only got 53% DR from armor... do you just have enough DPS to obliterate everything before it touches you?
Thanks again for the round-up, stromchin, I'd missed a few of those. It looks like lots of monks are voting, too (either that, or lots of other classes' players can feel our pain), judging by the number of "Highly Rated" Q's in there. Maybe A's are forthcoming? Maybe?

Maybe?

I suspect that's a big "maybe" :)

And tbh, it's such a shame that they do not answer this post.

Even if a question is highly rated, it doesn't guarantee which questions they answer ... they're just going to pick and choose which ones they want :/

We'll know soon enough: 28 of the 31 Q's that stromchin linked to are Highly Rated, so if none of them make the cut, then the game was rigged for sure.

They updated the buff of some runes that they forgot the first time.
And the cyclones will flow in the right direction now

May be a few more than change blind for this. Will still be a boring skill though, and not fix the monk problems
Wow they should have made those rune changes before PTR even dropped. Their oversight shows how much they really care and how much effort was put towards changing us. It just comes off as very disappointing. Like really? You think? In changing a skill buffing damage maybe you should buff the damages to the runes to keep up with the change? I mean how much effort would that have took to figure out?
The Monk said: Not Enough Spirit *COUGH *COUGH *COUGH..

Monk have the most worst resource ever.
Use one skill and half of your spirit gone...
And you need to recharge them with your gainer while other class can spam their spender...
