Just a thought here. If you want to really make the new crafting recipes worthwhile, it wouldn't take much...
Allow one of the random stats to sometimes roll something that doesn't normally roll on a particular piece of equipment. For example, how many people would love it if bracers could roll with lifesteal?!
I already hear people yelling that then Barbarians will be able to get 12% lifesteal boohoo. OK - fine - then don't allow bracers to roll with strength and lifesteal at the same time. How about gloves that could possibly roll with movement speed? Then maybe people would ditch their Lacuni Prowlers. The possibilities are endless and the unique stats don't need to be guaranteed - just allow it to be possible.

I like this idea, It could pose a few problems though balance wise. But rolling LS on bracers or gloves would certainly give other classes a place to find LS besides weps.
As a DH I use wf for farming for the LS but I would love to be able to use my calamity or manti without having to switch to a different ammy that has Life after kill. I find my farming is much more efficient with some type of life replenishment since I don't have to pop gloom if I am hit.

Great Idea!!!! They could also design it so you could pay higher crafting costs (mats and gold) ti increase your chances of a better roll. This would create gold sink, the ah would come back to life, not everyone would look the same anymore ( it would also give blizz something to hold players over until they finish rending artwork to use dyes on legendaries ) and it would definetly make people pick up there magic and rare drops to convert to mats) mats would become the new thing to farm! Imagine having every piece of your equipment have attack attack speed, crit, or pick up radius. This would also give every player an equal chance to have great gear or sell awesome pieces on the ah if they were willing to put the time in to do so. It would feel very rewarding.
i think right now one guaranteed stat which rolls in 200-300 range is enough, having two stats guaranteed is a bit too much, i am saying this after crafting 86 ammys yesterday, two of them had decent rolls with cc and cd. its good enough already unless they change something during the 12hour maintaince, lol
I like the idea of having off-sheet random affixes, however, you might end up with more issues trying to roll good gear. Every extra affix adds options, but they only work good in certain setups with certain other affixes. How mad would you be with a 300STR amulet with max rolls on life steal, life after kill? What if they weren't available affixes, those could've been max rolls on CC and IAS or CD.
Perhaps they require a high level gem to perform a specific addition, but the roll on that addition is without basement value? Perhaps take 10 additional demonic essence for a guarantee like MS, IAS, CC, LOH, LS?
Or Amulet of Strength plan using the usual mats, but you can add in, say, a radiant ruby for a guaranteed double STR roll? Radiant Emerald for guaranteed CD, etc.
Combine the ideas, go craft an amulet using Amulet of STR mats, +Radiant Emerald, Radiant Ruby, Radiant Amethyst, 10 demonic essence and get
+Special affix specific to this amulet plan for the 10 essences (IAS 1-9%, CC 1-10%, MS, LS, etc)
+2 Random Affixes.
Two things I would like to see:
Re-Roll gear @ Blacksmith
- - Separate recipe for each stat
- - Would solve issues of high STR rolls on bows, etc
- - Crafting cost based on item type, level, etc
- - Re-roll legendary :D
Add Socket to item (Up to that item's normal max sockets)
- - Should cost a ton
- - Changes non-BOA item to BOA (To prevent AH flipping)
