Ill bet 10 mil gold that account bound items need to be crafted with demonic essences and brimstones. They wanted a way to make brimstones valuable, well this does and it does it by not flooding the auction house with armors because they are account bound.
But needing a certan amount of demon essences and a couple of brimstones shoots the value of brimstones up quick.

If demonic essences have a 20% change of dropping off elites, that seems like an awfully easy resource to accumulate over time. I'm guessing it'll take a lot of them, and probably a good number of brimstones/gold, too. Otherwise, what's the challenge in crafting the new high end recipes?
Actually, these recipes WILL be using brimstones... which is why the prices have already started to increase.
Brimstones are NOT just for crafting legendaries. They are the level 63 crafting materials.
Exquisite Essence = Level 61 Crafting Material (OBTAINED from magic items)
Iridescent Tear = Level 62 (OBTAINED from rare items)
Fiery Brimstones = Level 63 (OBTAINED from legendary)
These rares will be level 63, hence use brimstones.
Once people realize this, the prices will soar. Wish I had more gold!
Well Brimstones aren't out of the game yet, it's not the full patch notes + undocumented changes there may still be a use for Brimstones.
But if you are good investor you should have known to "spread your risk" rather then sink everything into brimstones.
You should have invest in other things such as plans like Cains or Hallowed, they are nearly double their price since from when I've purchased them.
And you expect to be able to craft hundreds of these after a little bit of farming?
Assuming a legendary every 5 hours of farming (a reasonable expectation for mediocre players), and assuming that Brimstones will be the limiting material of the craft (i.e. you will always have more of the other pieces), that's 1 craft every 5 hours without touching the auction house. 100 hours will give you 20 crafts. Anything more than that and you risk devaluing everything else from those slots.
If you're doing Alkaizer runs in 15-20 minutes, you're probably getting a legendary every hour. That's 100 crafts in 100 hours, which pretty much guarantees multiple GGs in only a 100 hour span.
I think they'll continue to go up until the patch too.
Of course it will all depend on the finalized patch notes. It's much too early to say they were a "bad" investment, just because they've only marginally increased in price.
