Remove Gold Cost for BoA Items

I don't really see the point of gold cost in crafting the new BoA items. Whatever cost is implemented will never be high enough to be an effective gold sink without simultaneously being prohibitive for people who do not use the AH.

Since BoA items can not be sold or traded for massive amounts of gold in return there is really no harm in removing the gold cost of crafting them. So what if Joe makes 1000 BoA gloves and rolls 3 BiS items? He can't affect the economy in any tangible way with them (except that now he doesn't have to buy BiS gloves (but BoA is for non-AH users so he wouldn't have anyways)).

Additionally if the gold cost of crafting the items is removed then players might find incentive in spending some gold on the AH for the materials. This would work as a better gold sink than the meager 100k to craft an individual item.
i actually like this idea i never though it very clever
I think they want the cost in there. If I farm the materials to craft 1,000 items but lack the gold to do so then I might be encouraged to buy a few dollars of gold on the AH to finish out my crafts.

All roads lead to/through the AH.

I'm sorry to break it to you, but removing demand from the economy....affects the economy.
There should be a gold cost. There needs to be gold sink. Idiots will be idiots.

How much more freebies you want? Gimme Gimme... Care bear much?

While the response from fooTWO is rather harsh, it's correct.

The BOA and the new rank of Gems are designed as Gold Sink, and it's a necessary evil. No MMORPG can survive long without gold sink to reduce inflation.

Basically, If you think the BOA and the new gems is too expensive, then it's not the time yet for you to use them.

You affect the economy by reducing demand. If BOA items were cheap to make, that would be a large enough change to shift demand.
The BoA recipes are primarily implemented for people who do not use the AH. By allowing players to make these items you are not removing any (or much) demand from the AH.

You also seem to have missed this:

I could roll 100 amulets and get an upgrade for 500 million cheaper than anything I'll find on the AH at the 100k crafting cost. If you want a gold sink then they need to cost significantly more than 100k to craft. That would be fine by me as well as I could still afford to craft them, but then the non-AH users without millions would not be able to craft them. And since that is the target audience Blizz won't increase the crafting cost significantly beyond 100k. So why have it at all is my point?

lulz. You don't know squat kiddo.

(edit: One too many zeroes on my number of amulets...)

Crafting shouldn't be free without any risk >__>

I think the problem with that idea is that if Joe can craft gloves and get BIS gloves, then so can everybody else

Farming for crafting materials totally overlaps with farming for gold (i.e. for items to sell). It's the same thing, which means removing the crafting gold cost will impact EVERY player, not just non-AH users

Even though I see what you mean with the account bound thing, it really does reduce the demand of AH items... free crafting would reward grinding more and flipping less, which actually might not be a bad thing overall (but bad thing for me because I'm lazy)

But the consequence of that would be cheaper AH prices. You have to admit the current in-game content is SO ridiculously easy that... you can buy a "decent" set of gear as a fresh lvl 60 char. Imagine how it'll be when prices for "commonly cost efficient items" tank even further?
