Diablo® III

Dyes on legendaries

Best thing in patch. I can actually use innas pants now instead of forcing myself to buy overpriced lacunis for my movespeed.
Finally.
Being a self taught modder, I'm going to iterate Vals point a bit further. For every single legendary armor that is in the game a texture file has to be made to fit each dye available. In some cases you can simply adjust the hue value of the image (texture file) to alter the color, however in most cases this produces an awkward looking effect on the armor, and requires more pain staking efforts in altering the texture. Now I will let you guys do the math on how many textures need to be made with the amount of legendary armors available in game.

But as a rule of thumb in modeling 3D objects texturing tends to be the most tedious and time consuming process.
We’re working on getting Vanishing Dyes for Legendary items into 1.0.7. We intend for them to have the same slot restrictions as dyes traditionally have, so you’ll be able to use Vanishing Dye on say, your Legendary shoulders or helmet, but not items such as your weapons.

We hope this change will be available for testing on the PTR in a future build, but that may not possible. We’ll keep you updated. :)

I'm sure adding color to every legendary skin w
Inna leg is baby blue and looks dumb on a barb. Yea so just vanishing dye and have a bunch of pant-less barbs...

this is awesome, i don't my armor to be visible and my andy helm looks odd on my scantily-swaddled barb
the special dyes of collector's edition is soooooo ugly~~~~~ can you guys improve that by adding some kind of smoke or cloud effect, or just make it look more saint or evil?

(it was the most-requested dye for Legendaries that we’ve seen to date).

Because a lot of them you just don't want to see. I mean, even if I could dye my Vile Ward, I'd still have horns growing out of my shoulders. Only option is vanishing dye...

And seriously, I mean no disrespect to the art team. A lot of the art in this game is great, but legendaries are really where it disappoints.

Vanishing Dyes for Legendary items into 1.0.7.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF DIABLO TELL ME YOU WILL REMEMBER TO MAKE THE DYE REMOVER WORK AS WELL!

Alot of legendaries look amazing. Not all of them do, and definitely some of them do not look good in conjunction.

I'm personally hoping somewhere down the line for the ability to completely alter how items look, so each character can look unique, but this is at least a start.

I love my MEMPO on Monk becouse his face is ugly ;D
Always diligently at work (forever) on a minor issue that does little to improve how "fun" it is to play the game. This "greatly saddens me" guys.
I hope you'll let us remove the vanishing dye too. Would be sad to buy an invisible set an not being able to make it visible
Nice, hope you guys will work on an appearance system in the future as to allow us to choose which armor skin is being displayed.
LOL . I hope so .
Good news!
Just vanishing dye is fine imho. No need to redo (and maybe mess up) all the textures of the legendary items.
The key issue are the helmets. Some people (like me) simply don't want their toon girl to wear a skull or a bucket over her head.
A temporary solution could be a WoW-like transmogrify feature, so we could make legendaries look like, say, ilvl63 armor with an appropriate dye if we dislike how our legendary item looks like.

I guess it would be easier to implement, so your artists have more time with redoing the legendary textures.
I would love special dyes for legendaries, which drop only in Bossfights etc.
We miss the boss farming from DII ;)
why don't you blizzard make it a quest reward? You still think it's good to only give xp & money for every quest?
kool , cant wait. most of all I want that 5 second timer :)

Since we know this process will take some time, we wanted to make sure that players could at least use Vanishing Dye for now (it was the most-requested dye for Legendaries that we’ve seen to date).

To be fair, it was the most requested dye because those players that understand what it takes to get this all done realized that this is the quickest "fix" that can be put in until a real fix is available.

Let this also be a lesson for future legendary/set item design - make your textures for all dyes up front so you don't have to go through this again. :)
