Diablo® III

Updated: Your favorite and least favorite random event?

I like the little girl in act 2 that spawns a ton of monsters. It has the idea of helping a little girl only to be tricked into an ambush and I love it. Reminds me of how dark Diablo should really be, children dieing family's broken and evil truly relishing in all it's glory. If only there were more events like that.

My least favorite event would have to be either the carrion farm event or the one in festering woods that rarely spawns that sends the small white mobs at you. They both don't seem that threatening.

I agree. The little girl quest is really fun. Sadly, it's not on my route, but I sometimes do a detour with the hopes of doing it. We need more "oh snap" moment ;)

As for your least favorite, I agree with the Carrion farm. I love all the random events in the Field of Misery, except this one. It is probably because there's a lot of bats charging at you --- granting no rewards. I understand that the ones spawning from the next should not give XP, but the ones that come out of the trees should, as their number is limited.

I personally love a couple of the events in the fields of misery:

1. I forget the exact name, it's like forelorn farm or something like that, but involves killing all those bat hives, and then you get to kill a purple at the end of it. It's dropped 2 legendaries for me so far out of about 20 tries.

2. The event where you open the resplendant chest and all the crazy HUGE trees come to life. Always a challenge and double the reward when you kill the purple tree. I think his name is the old man or something.

Least favorites: delivering the looking glass to the watchtower dude in act 3 (not worth the trek; not always guaranteed elite group) and fighting off the skeletons for the iron smith in the keeps (takes forever; minimal reward).

1. I've already explained why it's my least favorite in the field of misery. The event itself is not bad. I'm just not a fan of monsters not giving XP. I always do it when I see it though!

2. The Old Man. It gets crazy when we do it on higher MP. I often scream to my friends: "Take the loots and GTFO!"

Fun fun time :)

My least favorite one is the miner in the cave where you have to find those two separate items for him. they are always in opposite directions of each other so you have to backtrack a once you find one of them

I know! I'm always like "run for your life!"

My favorite: Act 1 - Jar of soul.

Same here. But it's too bad there are no events like it in other places.

Wheel of misfortune is useless. It's hard to find it, and when you find it, it's often disappointed.

one thing missing in jar of souls is that it should lock you in there. no one gets in or out once the event begins till its over.

Hence the name "misfortune" ;) The name doesn't lie :)

I agree. For the act 3 version - Forged in Battle, I tend to TP back to town, sell and salvage my items and return "protecting" the blacksmith. He can only die if he gets hit by molten.

My favorite:
I absolutely love the Jar of Souls event. Specifically for the number of mobs that spawn, especially since they drop loot (even good loot sometimes!). However, I've noticed that since the change was made which allowed the mobs to stay after the timer runs out, I no longer get rares or legendaries when I open the jar, no matter how many stacks I have. Not sure if this is intentional or not, but I figured it's worth mentioning.

My least favorite(s):
Pretty much all other events, especially the ones where elites used to spawn but were replaced with a unique. I at least had a chance at a legendary with the elites. These uniques just drop trash all the time.

The only event I actually 'like' to do outside of the Jar is the Blacksmith in Keeps 1. That unique monster actually drops good loot for me (even legendaries!), so I'll take the extra time in my run to kill him for that chance.

Tomb of Khan Dakab in oasis is my fav. 3-4 elites plus the event all in a very small area. Protecting the blacksmith in Keep Depths is my least fav.

The jar of souls is good because of the amount of mobs. If on high mp or undergeared it can get interesting.

But sadly, after hours and hours of playing I don't find them fun at all. I only do them to build stacks. If already at five they get skipped. That's all they're good for.

To get me interested to do them it would need to be much more difficult with an equal reward. I'm not gonna do it just because it's hard without a good reward. And I'm not going to do it because of pretty graphics if it's too easy with no reward.

For me I prefer dozens of enemies with moderate difficulty rather than one super powerful enemy with a gazzilion hp. When you feel surrounded, out numbered, and cornered and kill everything and live, that's fun. That's what I remember from playing Diablo years ago.

Least favorite is the act three keeps event. Wait for some weak yellow guy to pop out and get my stacks. Yawn.

jar of souls clearly the best

worst I will say the guy in the middle of the bridge(not the scout, then again he doesnt spawn elite anymore either) on the way to siege, no real reason other then ive passed him so many times and would never click on him.

Most favorite event is Act 2 Wheel of Misfortunes, reason is because it's a rare spawn and also the hardest achievements IMO. My most hated is the Act 4 Spy glass, where you get it from a wounded soldier then bring it up on tower, after giving it to the soldier on top of the tower, he dies. What's up with that?

I love the 2 Tombs in the oasis and the Decaying Crypt in the Fields of Misery because these events have a dungeon with a named monster(s) and resplendent chest at the end. I wish the named monster would be more of a challenge and have rewards based on monster-power level but, it's still good fun as it is.

I would love these event/dungeon combos to be added to Act 4.

Another thing that I find awesome are fancy doors. These add a lot to the experience imho. A fancy door with a great animation(that doesn't last too long) is something I always appreciate and never grow tired of. For instance - I love the door to Leoric's tomb.

P.S. the worms that create cave dungeons were an awesome touch!

Jar of souls is defninitely my favorite one. I wish they would expand a lot on this concept, a true survival mode.

my favorite is the timed dungen in act 2

reason being its different from all the others where you just walk around and kill things, its a race agesnt time and killing monsters generally slow you down

personally some new random events i think they could add is protecting an npc / escorting to an area or deffend X object from getting destroyed for Y time. something that you can acually have a chance to fail at like the timed dungen

not technically an event, but I love the huge purple worms that spawn caves after you kill them, hilarious the first time that happened and a cave with some elites and a yellow chest is a pretty nice reward too.

Used to love Jar of Souls pre 1.03. It's one of the worst now since it takes so long to complete. My favorite events would be anyone that takes the least amount of time (Lady Dunhyld event?) since all the events are not fun or unique. They're just a way to get a NV stack.

Um, I usually get my stacks in Festering woods - Leoric manor. I then proceed to go do the jar/matriarch bones. Jar of Souls give you good XP. 120+ mobs in 2 minutes isn't too bad. I always see my XP bar go up after this event ;)

The first time the worn spawned, I think I "clicked too" fast after he died to grab the loots. The moment he died, I was instantly inside that tunnel and I was like "Wow, he just swallowed me whole!" ^^

Saving Chen, he is soo funny! :D

Dislike
Act 2 save people before Belial in a timed event. I really do not like timed games - at all. If the timer was gone, it would be more fun. Actually.
