Well...might as well get in on this...I've done MP10 self found before and if you can make it through A1 I will be impressed...
Well, anomie lvled his first wiz on mp10....so, um, you might wanna rethink that...
Right now, I am level 12 - I have cleared down to cathedral 4, just hit the royal crypts checkpoint. Gonna grab some coffee and then go for the SK kill.
I've been clearing *everything*, because without being able to farm I need every chance to drop gear I can get. No rares have dropped. No vit gear has dropped (well, there's been a couple of +1 vit items that dropped, but they weren't worth it based on overall stats), but I picked up a +7 vit wand that also upped my dps off a vendor (swapped a +int wand out). Have templar, will travel - based on the Jondar fight, the SK fight is going to be interesting, to say the least.
I have been mulling over whether or not I want to attempt to avoid the A1 keywarden, assuming I even get past SK. The last time I fought the keywarden on MP10, he was pretty close to one-shotting me when I got jailed and hit by his fireball (you have no jail escape the first time you fight him as a wiz), and I think I had better stats - so trying to get drops off him may not be worth it.
Edit: SK down. Fight was long, I was worried I wouldn't have enough aoe dps to keep his summons down, and that was actually close to true - but I used frost nova to interrupt his summons a bunch, that helped a lot. Plus the summons he did manage to get, I'd try to position myself so he'd put himself between them and me, so I could hit him while aoe'ing them. Three rares dropped, including an offhand and a wand - the source trades -4.6% mitigation for +3.6 dps, and the wand is -70 health for +2.9 dps.

The key warden was right next to the khazra den. I started kiting/fighting him, and damn it, I was *WINNING* (I did in fact get jailed & hit by his fireball, but it hit me for about 1/3, which is something I can deal with - I don't know if "winning" is a correct description of the situation, it's more to say I no longer doubted that I *could* win that fight ...) - when my video flipped out on me, went all gray with jagged stripes and I couldn't see anything. The game was still running, but I had to reboot the box, and now my level 12 EU wiz is dead.
I was really hoping for a way better run than that, and I was really hoping to go out because I was totally undergeared in a basically impossible situation - i.e. an epic death, rather than wtf is wrong w/ the video death.
EDIT: retracting the question. dead is dead, I'll figure out a way to pay out even though nobody picked 12.

If someone had picked 12, Cuny, I would be paying them right now, because it wouldn't be fair to even ask the question if someone had actually picked it.
And the more I think about it - the more I think that dead is dead and I need to pay *somebody*.
RIP bro...you might want to do the usual video troubleshooting to see if it's something you can fix.
As far as paying...Cyco said 13 so I would say he'd win because he's the closest. I thought I was the lowest with 17 but saw Cyco came in at 12 so I got underbid :(
I could sure use the cash for my fresh 60 too haha
Good luck on your next re-roll bro!
Yeah, it sucked.
Especially since all indications were that I'd have a real good shot at taking the KW out. It would have been a long fight, but I had a good area cleared to fight in, and his fireballs weren't hitting me nearly as hard as I was afraid they would. I went from "Oh, I should be able to do this if I'm not stupid about it" to "WTFWHY????????"
But, you know, is what it is. It's probably my own damn fault, I probably let the box get too hot or something.
I'm going to pay out to CyCo, as he was the closest w/out going under (not that anyone went under). Shot the friend request out already.

I apologize for not accepting the request earlier, I was in HC all day and wanted to see who was adding me.
I will be online most of the day tomo, but I may be AFK since I have some IRL stuff to do.
It really really sucks that you went out at 13. My bid was gonna be around 18-20 coz of keeps 2 or early NM at around 28 .. But those were all taken. The logic of 13 was actually SK or just thereafter as Khazra is pretty bad coz of the mobs + Poison (Atleast for a barb).
Its interesting too see that its the KW that is hard, but in this case it wasnt ur fault.
My new HC barb (CyCoTiC) barely survived SK @MP1 as I went with the gear I had found straight into the fight. But the KW was okay (maybe coz its a barb?).
I have started another HC barb kinda like urs:
MP10 only. No AH. Solo play. But I am going to repeat content a little bit else it may be pure suicide? Any thoughts? Its been super hard already so far, I barely survived the cain quest and Im sure SK will 2-3 shot me.
Since I am a bit of a techie, some advice (Even though you didnt ask) : Try unplugging ur video card, clean the slots (simply keep puffing air into it) and replug. I have seen so many video cards that are not plugged in properly (including mine once upon a time) and thats why the display flips out. Or, the drivers.

Oh, no apology needed. Stuff happens :) I just want to make sure I get it paid since I said I would. Sitting in menu now, ready whenever you are, just throw me a msg. :) (Edit: Paid out, should give CyCo a good nest egg to start off w/ when he hits 60)
Honestly, I am not at all sure how to fight SK as a barb - I've never done it, ever, at any MP or any difficulty. As a wiz what I did was kite like a madman, and when he started the summon animation I'd either try to interrupt it w/ frost nova or just let it happen, then kite so that he couldn't use them as a meat shield while simultaneously hitting them and SK at the same time with arcane orb (basically, making sure that either SK was in the front of the mobs or that the orb would aoe him as well as the mobs). The biggest dangers as a wiz are getting overwhelmed by the summoned guys, and his teleport hit thing (which I'd also avoid), but both of those dangers can be dealt with. Having to get in and melee him, I dunno ...
There's gotta be a barb that's done it at MP10 and can give advice, though

I can't imagine playing this way at all TBH...seems FAR too stacked against you to have any chance. The ranged characters would seemingly have a slight advantage because they're not in melee range and would presumably have an easier time fleeing dicey situations. As a barb I wouldn't even want to attempt this...
It's not really about having a chance, though. For me it's about finding out what I'm capable of in the game under extreme conditions, which is why I had the no-regrinding rule. Plus, it was really fun.
I want to go again - unfortunately, I have to figure out what the hell happened to the video and get it fixed, so I might not be playing that much until that happens :/ I played a little over the weekend but in every fight I was stressing over whether or not it was going to happen again, etc. Which sucks.
I admire this attitude. Quintessentially hardcore. And glad you had fun.
Fair enough. Don't get me wrong, I like stacking the deck against myself as well, which should be obvious by how many HC toons I've killed in a short time LOL
I may give this method a shot myself just to see how well I can do...
