Critical hit damage

How well does Critical hit damage help with your dps? I have 373 Crit damage and 42.5% Crit Chance, should I loose some of my chance for damage or or just try to upgrade my damage?

They combine to produce the following multiplier:

1 + (CHC x CHD)

In your case, it's this:

1 + (0.425 x 3.73)
1 + (1.58525)

That should help you figure out which is better. For example, let's say you're considering a 1% bonus to your CHC or a 10% bonus to your CHD.
  • Increase CHC by 1%: 1 + 0.435 x 3.73 = 1 + 1.62255 = 2.62255
  • Increase CHD by 10%: 1 + 0.425 x 3.83 = 1 + 1.62775 = 2.62775

This means 10% CHD is slightly more to you in a very limited sense—namely, paper DPS. It doesn't account for Cyclone damage, where more CHC produces more tornadoes. I'd want to see the numbers in a spreadsheet before making a decision. In general, however, if your paper DPS is equal no matter which affix you choose, you should choose CHC if you use Cyclone.

Hope this helps.
