Intel to Leave Desktop Motherboard Business

Frankly, motherboard manufacturing at the desktop level isn't a profitable enterprise, unless you're selling high-margin product, or can justify other price points based on common components. It makes sense for Intel to step out of this market, because there are so many other companies that make a better product, with better brand recognition. I don't doubt that there was profit here, but likely not as much as there used to be. Intel is playing it safe by letting other brands deal with it, and focusing on their core business.
