Hello,
I've been dueling as a monk, average gear (I still can't copy again after 4 days...) and it's been a fun experience, even when I'm overpowered by some people, because I can tell when there is a better player and/or gear on the other side. However, dying of DoTs *isn't* fun, especially for monks. Our class design heavily relies on dodge but DoTs bypass that. To make matters worse, DoTs are becoming the norm for barbs and wds and I feel completely helpless against it. And there's no skill involved for them: just pop rend, run away, and enjoy a victory moments later. A related issue is that DoTs linger even after a Near Death Experience (I presume other classes with similar res skills have the same problem) and we just die again for free. I understand Blizzard doesn't want to change skills for PVP sake that would hurt PVE, but I believe these suggestions would have minimal if any PVE impact and help immensely for PVP: - Make dodge and/or block work for DoT per tick; - Clear DoT and CC for skills that resurrect/save. Any blue reply would be most welcome. Thank you.

See the problem and something that can be done against the insane DoT you sometimes receive

This should be fixed when skills that purge/grant invulnerability purge player generated debuffs
Such things not being removed is a known bug. |
|
|
Could you link a blue saying that it's a bug?
Certainly doesn't feel in line with the whole invulnerability thing and I for one would welcome a way to survive haunt/rend. |

I would just be happy if the DoT's stopped after I killed the person that applied them

I understand Blizzard doesn't want to change skills for PVP sake that would hurt PVE, but I believe these suggestions would have minimal if any PVE impact and help immensely for PVP: i do agree with your idea, but not your suggestions to fix it. first let me give you an extreme real life example. if someone slashes their wrists (and i mean the right way, across horizontally not down the length) then they will be bleeding a LOT. think of it as damage over time. there are mere seconds left for them to dodge it or block it. its not going to happen im afraid to say, because its already afflicting them. now back to the game and what i propose as a solution. since damage over time is unblockable and undodgeable, as shown above, lets look at a different method. instead lets dodge the initial first hit before it starts damaging you. they could make the first hit different and dodgeable. if you dodge it then you are not afflicted by damage over time and it goes away because basically it missed. if it hits you though then you continue taking ticks for the full duration. |

That would be nice as well, although I feel it interferes more with PVE. |

Yes, I understand that as a mechanic DoTs aren't supposed to be dodged/blocked IRL. But it seems the best way to work around the issue in PVP without nerfing the skill for PVE in-game.
I was under the impression that this is already how it works, or so I've been told. Can anyone test to confirm?

Save serenity until you get the DoT - pop serenity - no more DoT

Point is the initial dot can't miss. I use impale with chemical burn, target dodges the hit, the dot is still applied 100%. I always use this against monks. And don't get me started on Haunt, it can't be dodged or even avoided by casting smokescreen before it hits you.
Dodge is a central part of DH/Monk since it's what our main stat gives us. Should we stack strength instead? |

Dodge should work on the initial attack. You either get dotted or you don't. Once the dots on your head though? Don't see why you should be able to dodge then.

you mean like this? http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/prod-2134/hero/23085039 I still die from a single crit hit that has DoT from a high (200k-ish) DPS player. Nevermind about 400k DPS DH. Please tell me what else I can do when Serenity is on cooldown? Its mechanics suck !@#. Blizz should change something otherwise DoT is way OP.

One easy solution, DoT skills must not crit and problem solved, other thing as someone say "Dodge should work on the initial attack "

No. Just no. You clearly have not fought at the very top.
