lol I am seeing the term fanboy being branded every other post.... Let me make something clear, right here and right now! Chances are that if you are posting on this forum or the PoE forum your all freaking fanboys.
on another note i think both games have equal pros and cons and i play both. have a nice day..... FANBOYS! |

Having played both games, I think D3 has far more potential than POE.
POE is extremely lacking in combat, combat mechanics, active sills, and pace of play. It's really great once through the first act, after that it really becomes quite tedious to play, specifically if you chose anything but two or three builds. The passive system has, I want to say ten to fifteen game changer passives. Out of that most are beyond useless, most seem to be extremely specific in what you can do, having negatives that nearly outweigh the advantages. Most wont want to use the big passive skills. What ends up happening is you kind of get shoe horned into a build, avoiding the big game changing passives, and rather stacking weapon damage specific to your build, defenses, and stats. So your idea to make a Templar tank with a bow means you pass up the close passives for staff and magic auras rather taking base stats which are not all that useful, and getting a really weak bow attack, passives that don't help you tank much, and once your done with the first difficulty level, you'll find yourself struggling hard to progress woot a massive level advantage to the map your on. The passive skill system gives you the power to choose, in the end, a character with a few percents more in one aspect over another...that's it...unless you don't plan on endgame. First difficulty it's more viable with off builds, but you'll soon be rerolling since that unique build won't get you very far on the harder difficulties, and should you get to endgame, you'll be rerolling map drops until you get a very specific map stat that you can actually handle. Endgame is getting map portals dropped, which have stats, like what mobs, what specific special passive and active skills the mob has, as well as bonuses to loot drops ect. Fantastic system, but without a great build, you won't be able to do most of those dropped maps. Bottom line is that POE is a good game in its own sense. Once you get past the first round of difficulty you see the game for what it is, a very few number or viable builds, a lot of passive skill stat fluff, and tedious, slow, clunky gameplay that favors heavily towards ranged elemental damage. It's a free game so I suggest you check it out and see for yourself though,. Just be sure to get past the first difficulty level before you go touting it as a miracle game. |

Just like torchlight 2 and guildwars 2 all this hype about poe will fade away lols, And diablo3 will still reign as this generation "king of arpg" lols.
Proof that diablo3 is today's king of arpg? Is that any new game of this genre will always be compared to diablo3 as it is this generation yard stick in terms of arpg.

PoE's starter shared stash is adequate. However, the individual character inventory sucks. I feel like a longshoreman trying to fit wildly different sized items in the very limited space provided. It wouldn't matter so much if there was teleporting on demand or if portal scrolls dropped more frequently. As it stands now, though, I spend too much time running back and forth from the waypoints so as to not to deplete my small supply of scrolls. And even with my waypoint sprinting, I've still had to leave good quality stuff behind after boss fights because even with a empty character stash, there just wasn't enough room. |

Nothings being compared to Diablo3 it's being compared to Diablo 2. Diablo3 isn't king of the arpg's Diablo2 is for now. |

^ Fail comment is fail. D2 was the king of ARPGs for its time like no other ARPG ever was, but comparing the games objectively taking everything into consideration D2 is an absolute pile of crap compared to D3.

Ok, I played a bit yesterday for something else to do besides the item grind and here are my thoughts on the game.
1. It's free. 2.It's decent not OMFG!! but it's defiantly playable. 3.The intro(ship wrecked prisoners/exiles) is a stolen combo of Morrowwind(Prisoner)and DDO(shipwrecked) 4.The over all look of the game reminds me of Gauntlet:Dark Legacy(PS2) not D2 as many claim. 5.The gem system is just stolen from FF 7 6.The skill tree is stolen from FF 10 7.Unless you count world chat there is very little need to interact with others (At least as far as I have gotten) 8. As of few minuets ago from this edit: The server went down again, but we've worked out a solution to why it fails to come up properly. Sorry for the inconvenience! Won't be long. The realm crashed as we hit a new record of 69850 players online. We're working on fixing the problem! LOL>>>crashing after 70k people try to play .Over all it's a totally different game IMHO than D3 or D2. Yes, they all have their up sides and down sides.

I don't see anything "stolen" in this game. There are some similarities yes because it's an.................ARPG!!! All games in the same genre are similar. This game has a different story with different characters. The map is the same as D2 yes. But it is a free game. FREE. I have never seen a free game that looks like this before ever. And no P2W is an epic win in my book. This isn't a game of the year by far and it won't "kill D3" or any other game. But it is a fun game. The only draw back is all the blizzard community idiots that love to hate on D3 and Blizzard just for the sake of doing it constantly spam every chat channel with their nonsense. Good thing you can turn that crap off. I recommend the game to everyone. It's a great little distraction from the day to day. Have fun.

I have no ill-will towards PoE or it's devs. Best of luck to them and all that jazz.
This
made me chuckle. Did the PoE gamers immediately start frothing at the mouth and raging? Are the screaming for an 'offline mode' now? That always online thing can be a pain to work with huh? |

Just like torchlight 2 and guildwars 2 all this hype about poe will fade away lols, And diablo3 will still reign as this generation "king of arpg" lols. Every time I log into Torchlight 2 (I still play weekly) I can easily find a group of players on various levels and difficulties. I don't think it's as "dead" as you claim it to be, and all things considered, if people looked at them OBJECTIVELY, they'd realize TL2 is actually the better game. PoE, I can't say yet, only in act 2. |

IMHO
Path of Exile > Diablo 3 I played my fair share of D3, the team has started to move more swiftly in the direction of pleasing the customer base, but of the little time i have played PoE it as a game is just overall more polished in certain areas that make it more enjoyable. One game feature alone making gameplay more fun is the ability to move with your map overlap up. The ability to use any skill or basically any equipment as long as you have the required specs. THE MASSIVE PASSIVE SKILL TREE I had a lot of fun playing D3, and I will more than likely log back in and play again at a later date. It was fun, I enjoyed that hunt for new items (only after the patches). I will more than likely buy the expansion, but for now I shall only play Path of Exile. Its free, it's new and even when I finish the quests now there will still be tons more free content for me to explore when they release act 4 and 5. EDIT: I also played a fair amount of torchlight2, it is a great game as well. Love the itemization. It is just toonier than I like. Gameplay PoE>Torchlight>Diablo3 Graphics PoE>Diablo 3>Torchlight Item Looks Diablo3>Torchlight>PoE Whiners Diablo3 >Tochlight+PoE because there are whiners in the other games but they are only whining about D3

I have no ill-will towards PoE or it's devs. Best of luck to them and all that jazz. They didnt because there was a queue message that stated they were working on providing more server space for players. and a note of where exactly you were in the queue. It was like they had expected it to happen and planned ahead. a

IMHO You saying POE's graphics beat D3's graphics make your entire opinion invalid. Not even POE's developers would make such a stupid comment. EDIT: Matter of fact POE's graphics do not even beat TL2's graphics as far as polish and overall detail.
