Diablo® III

Fixit #5 - Improved crafting timers

This particular suggestion relates exclusively to gem crafting, which is usually unprofitable anyway, but briefly now with 1.07 coming, has regained a very small sliver of profitability.

As it stands, there is an awful delay in crafting top tier gems due to the artificial imposition of a crafting timer in the game. There have been many suggestions put forward on how to reduce it, but one that I haven't seen and so am now proposing is this:

When you open the jewelcrafter window, it will put a bracket next to some of the listed gems indicating that you have sufficient lower-tier gems to make 1 (or more) of that particular gem.

My suggestion is simply this, carry that process onwards all the way up the line of gem. Thus, if I happen to have 729 Flawless Square Emeralds in my inventory when chatting with my jewelcrafter the list for Emeralds would look like:

Radiant Star (1)
Perfect Star (3)
Flawless Star (8)
Star (27)
Radiant Square (81)
Perfect Square (243)

A click on any of the higher tier gems would make, using the current standard crafting timer, 1 gem of that particular level, using up as many of the lower tier gems as needed to do it and deducting from my gold the necessary amount to pay for the accumulated crafting cost.

Yes please. I want to craft a Marquise. Goodness knows how long that would take. :)

The only possible problem I can see in your proposal is WHICH gems does it use? It would be simple if you had 729 flawless squares and no other gems.

But what if you had 700 flawless squares AND a perfect star, and wanted to create a radiant star. The game would need to know whether or not you wanted to use the perfect star, or just craft it from flawless squares. Sometimes you might want to keep the perfect star, and have the system tell you that you don't have enough flawless squares. Other times, you might want to use the star too.

Maybe they could fix it by allowing the jeweller to open up like a stash (or... like a horadric cube!!!) and you can put whatever gems/tomes you want in there and press transmute. :)

This would still work.

So, let's imagine you have a Perfect Star gem, along with the redonkulous 729 Flawless Squares necessary to make a Radiant Star.

As per your example, you want to make a Radiant Star, but still have a Perfect Star left over. In that case, you simply click once on the Radiant Star line item, and the following would take place:

1) The game would commence combining gems in order to make the Radiant Star.

2) After combining 486 Flawless Squares, you would have (keep in mind this would happen in the background) 3 Perfect Stars, which it would then combine into the requested Radiant Star.

3) Now you'd have 1 Radiant Star gem, plus 243 Flawless Square gems.

4) Click - and again, this would need only one click - on the Perfect Star line item (which would have a (1) next to it due to the presence of the 243 Flawless Squares) and viola the game starts combining Flawless Squares again until it eventually makes the Perfect Star.

5) Mission accomplished, your 729 Flawless Squares plus Perfect Star have been transformed into 1 Radiant Star and 1 Perfect Star.
