I do know that they bypass dodge. They also linger when you are in invincible mode (SS, SW, Serenity), so you continue taking damage when that wears off. Finally, they completely ignore any last resort passive (Near Dead Experience and Unstable Anomaly) as well.
In other words: Sucks to be a Monk :p
Let me make a point
DOT is the best damage dealer in the game. The ones that stay on the field can stack, the ones that stay on a mob can't.
For barb rend, spirit tornado, etc
For hunter jagged spikes, chemical burn, etc
For monk cyclone tornado, ex palm, etc
For witch doctor haunt, locust swarm, etc
For wizard arcane tornado, posion, etc
Why do you die so fast in PvP, because you don't have 4m or 4000k life point like Diablo in mp0. Average player have 40k that is 1% of the life that Diablo has. How fast can you kill Diablo again? Now you know why you die so fast.....
If you are not satisfied with my answer go to act4 and stand in front of the keyward until it cast its DOT on you. How fast do you lose you life?
To counter dot you need life regeneration. Lets assume you have 70% reduction on armor, 70% reduction on resistance. If rend can do 2m damage you lose 400k life per second without any armor/resist.
400k x 0.3 = 120 x 0.3 = 36k per second.
You will die in less than 2 second if you are hit by a barbarian with 300 dps. Unless you have life regeneration of 36k per second there is no way you will survive.
I hope everyone reading this will now understand why you die to dot, and will stop posting complain about it.
Let me make a point
Stopped reading there. Blizzard is a field DoT and doesn't stack.
DoTs do so much damage because they have high % damage. Rend says it does 700~900% weapon damage, thus it will surprisingly do more damage than a skill that says it does 100% weapon damage.
Counter-intuitiveness aside, DoTs like Rend or Haunt get their critical hit determined on impact, so if it "crits" you, it will do so for every tick.
