We are dealing with 18 people company from new zealond who just released open beta of a completely free game. they dont have the rights and the budget to make a *diablo* game and hype it for 6 years with blizzcon, trailers and gameplay videos.

Sales mean nothing anyway, what means is how many people play the game and what they think about it. if you looked at forums you should realize that people aren't too positive about d3 and the actual players are basically gone.

I really do not think D3 has much more than 70k online user at any given moment any more. Not half bad for a free to play, indie game in BETA.

The question that begs to be asked is: why are you following a game on twitter that you apparently care nothing for?

And how can your compare a free game to a paid one.

If you want to look at numbers, you can say that they made 2.2 million in donations during their closed beta phase...how much money has diablo 3 raised by donations? I think Blizzard should be giving it's fans money.

they're also an indie company of 19 people with no marketing budget or advertisements and not WoW to feed it 6million gold and more over 7 years of hype. to release a flop of a simplified game like d3 from d2 being its predecessor.

better than error 37 for a whole week, it says will be done in an hour, let's see how long we'll actualyl have to wait which im sure is only 1 hour. oh wait and it's free so what are you complaining about? ungrateful git.

0. You're comparing an international, multi-million dollar company with a huge monetary backer to an indie team from NZ with ~23 employees?
1. You're comparing Diablo III's launch with the start of Open Beta of PoE?
2. I remember Diablo III's 'Public Stress Test'. The servers weren't even up for half the weekend, and there was little feedback from the devs what had happened or how soon that would be remedied.
2a. And the real release wasn't any better: You couldn't log into the game for days at a time, and for THAT game, I paid €60. In PoE I can actually play 95% of the time without a hitch, and that game is free.
3. Blizzard had their sales figures, they knew roughly how much server capacity they would need. GGG had no means of figuring out how many people would try to log in.

Seems like your entire comparison is grasping at straws to somehow shine a brighter light on the disaster D3 was and is.

Nicobella is a hipster. You've probably never heard of them, because they only have a charecter in normal. See I can use the term wrong too.

Looking at the steam stats always makes me think 2 thing:

1. Wow...Dota 2 sure is popular.

2. Those Central/South Americans and Europeans sure love that Football simulator. At least that's what I assume since several of my gaming buddies from around the world play it but I don't know a single person in the U.S. that plays it. :P

Cept D3 probably has less than 70k playing right now, despite breaking sales records simply because of the TITLE of the game.

D3 has less active players than PoE.
PoE is not even localized.

You realize that thats 69850 players in a beta made by a small team. Hipsters play D3 ironically, because depth in game mechanics and character customization with an emphasis on having your choices carry more weight with permanence is too mainstream. Not even a good try bro.
