From most I have read in this forum. the only ones who really wanted pvp are the people who basically PKed people randomly and stole peoples stuff back in UO and D2. Its honestly quite sickening reading all of these posts saying that "PKing was awesome, I loved killing noobs and stealing all their stuff trololololol." If pvp is only justified for these kind of people who only want to make other gamers playing time miserable and have fun "pwning" noobs. Then get rid of pvp entirely. *CoughtheoneCough*

Wat no. PvP is competitive, people strive to be the best at a competition. Why do you think the world has the olympics? |
|

Sadly, this is fairly accurate. D2 had a hardcore PvP following and with it came an enormous amount of griefing. Removing the feature is a bad idea because this behavior wasn't true 100% of the time. If you look really hard you might come across a few Diablo 2 vets who treat people like human beings. Bottom line: It's never a good idea to punish everyone because of the bad apples. |

I agree i could care less about a pvp now maybe if it was like what they originally planned with team battles then it might have more interest but basicly pvp is not needed, what we need more of is.
More systems More variaty in item-ization more unique affixes ETC |

what are you talking about. dueling was huge in diablo 2 and you didnt lose your gear when someone killed you. all though there was ways of making it from a glitch but thats different. u gotta kill them like a bunch of times or something i cant remember

From a treasure hunter perspective, pvp is great for the economy. It broadens our markets and makes more of what we find valuable. I'd love to see a few pvp-related affixes added to the game.
PVP also provides variety from treasure hunting, and while people are pvp'ing, they aren't treasure hunting; which decreases the supply and makes what we find more valuable.

Because psychopaths and sociopaths tend to be quite vocal on forums?

Probably because Diablo 3 has no long term PvM replayability with so few skills being end-game viable for each class.

At this point just more content. By that I mean different areas to see, mobs to kill. Making drops better, loot more interesting wouldn't hold my attention for long considering it would = more act 3 clears to obtain it. |

... diablo 2 had great PvP. granted it was hard to get a game without some stupid PKer joining. and they generally only lasted 10-30 min before some idoit came in and ruined it. but for the most part it was fun. and it certainly was million times more balanced than d3's current dueling system.
but getting a good match going for 20 min was worth the pain if the idoit pkers. what really killed dueling in d2 was once the "PK bots" came out. it was a that point (after 10 years of playing) gave up d2. |

It's basically for nolifers to measure their widdle epeens. Why it is even considered important is because the minority PVP crowd are fanatical and will spam forums until they get what they want.
Mainly sub 20 year old crowd... It's like some sort of power trip for the kids to be on a list. I'm 41 and am batshizz crazy about old style PVP and PK... PVP today is like some mini game with a predictable end every time. No real risks... Not real PVP if you ask me. Kids today think every single aspect should be balanced and boring as hell. |

Variety is such an evil thing. Also if you dont want pvp Blizzard shouldnt add it since you speak for the whole community.

the only people who do not want pvp are the ones who got owned back in the day, because they were simply bad players, or too dumb to use the many safeguards and avoidance techniques to avoid being killed by stronger players. if that is not the case then why do you even care, no one is forcing you to pvp now, and it only benefits your farming ways. Diablo is not supposed to be a carebear game, stop trying to ruin things for the people who actually want to play Diablo. |

you know it seems many people that never played D2 ,or, not very much seem to make rrediculous claims about D2 that just arn't true. If you're not into pvp thats fine, but to say only A-holes pvp'ed, thats rediculous. There was an entire section of gamers/guilds and ladders that al revolved around pvp.Greifers.Sure you get buttheads in any game.Tons of scammers currently in D3 just looking to !%!!@@@! unsucpecting players for gear(real cash).Does that mean people that like pve are all jerks.Silly statement. I also love when I read D2 was terribe when it first came out.Another outright made up lie.D2(vanilla) was a revolutionary game the likes had never been seen before, and it won every single award a game could get that first year. Anyways it is clear Blizz wants to move away fom any type of competition in there games(also true in WoW).I guess they feel it ailienates many casua players.Of course this isn't true, but I don't think any of you have to worry about the game getting over competative. |

I dont think i would not play this game if they didnt come out with some form of pvp. Ive gotten so tired i cant find nothing to do in this game any more tired of everything i hope this patch makes a diference.

Because the game has nothing else to offer except a cookie cutter build and the overrated auction house flipping fun.

We don't need those. PvP changes the utility of the existing stats pretty dramatically. For instance, pants with 50% rolled str/dex/int are vendor trash in pve, might sell if pvp got big. Make them 75% rolled on one stat and they might sell in pve, but a pvp'r would probably pay more because we covet each other's main stats. PvP'rs on a budget are also likely to run large collections of midling gear rather than small collections of high end gear. We swap gear like madmen, trying to counter the opponent(s) moves. That means we're looking to upgrade much more gear on any given trip to the ah. It'll impact the high end. Think trifecta rings are scarce? How about a trifecta ring with 14% ccr or maybe +healing globe. Put one of those on an ah and every PvP'r will bid "all my money" for it. PvP'rs want gear, but we spend our time in foolish, frivolous ways that don't generate $ for ourselves or competition for you. Whatever shall we do? I don't think that such things will happen in 1.07 because I don't think that dueling is going to be "the game" for enough people to impact the AH. If blizz ever gets around to releasing mainstream PvP. Treasure hunters DEFINITELY want PvP to happen. You might actually want it to happen more than we do.

PvP is a big encouragement for some people. For you it may not be relevant (i know it's not for me either), but that doesn't mean it should be neglected. I don't think it's only the PKers who want pvp. A lot of us approach it rather casually, but it used to be very fun back in D2, and like it or not, people like to somehow compete.
