Diablo® III

Where is the God in this game?

Demons destroy the seven heavens, angels get slaughtered. Where is the God?

Anu.

Anu was a perfect being, then wanted to get rid of the evil in himself.
He cast out this Evil, a huge 7 headed Dragon called Tathamet.
Since Tathamet -is- the other half of Anu, they are equaly matched.

Long story short --->

They fought for billions and billions of years....

They eventually killed each other at the same time with a powerful explosion.

The "spine" of Anu is beleived the Crystal Arch, where Angels are born.

The "body" of Tathamet is the burning hells, where the demons spawn, and each of his 7 heads formed to be the 7 Great Evils.

That would be the closest thing to a "God" and a "Devil".

And it also explains why the Nephalem, which are the children of Demons and Angels, are so powerful. They are shards of Anu and Tathamet put back together.

Nephalem = humans = players :p

According to the lore (the Sin War Trilogy is a good starting point), Children of angels and demons = Nephalem = players in D3 =/= humans. Not all humans are nephalem, but all nephalem are considered humans at the beginning.

you would be very wrong. All of life in sanctuary that would be what we in the real world call human is a Nephalem. Inarius caused the worldstone or the eye of Anu to inhibit their abilities and over generations we have what is now called humans.

With the worldstone destroyed some are able to tap into those abilities again. the players are normal humans that through training and experience begin to rise to the powers the race once had. so much so that be the end of act 4 the angles and the demons call us by our old names. I suspect that any human can do this give the right motivation and or experiences.

All humans are nephalem, they just don't awake the power inside of them!

The Book of Cain covers this.

I'd like to point out that neither the Book of Cain or the the Angels themselves hold this as fact, only a myth (a myth that not even all the angels know).
Because (and here's another important thing) Angels and Demons aren't divine. They are physical beings on physical worlds within the universe (As stated in the Book of Cain). Which is why the Judo-Christian God doesn't show up because this isn't the Bible and the Angels aren't his servants. Which is also why human souls don't go to Heaven if they were good or Hell if they were bad.
