I am really looking forward to the blizzard changes, I for one can not deal with a CM build. My sanity, keyboard and wrists can not take it. I was hoping to get some gear pointers and stir up some ideas on skills to compliment blizzard. I am looking at a full cold build with frost hydra, blizz and maybe ray of frost. Not sure as I have not tried on the PTR.
I am just getting back into D3 as I stopped playing for 4-5 months while I waited for them to make it interesting. So I have little cash to burn. What gear compliments blizzard the best? I have hard time deciding if AS is worth anything (does not seem to be) I have had a hard time upping my DPS with out it. I am stuck under 100k
I assume Frostburns will be usable? Thoughts?? I have a 6/29 set ready
If anyone else plans on going this route share your ideas, thanks!
I was thinking something like this for the Skill layout:
This might be light on the AP regen, but I am hoping that blizzard will correctly proc APoC now?

I just ran a few key runs on MP5 with a similar build to that above, swapped to Energy Armor with reduced Ap cost on spells. It did surprisingly well pre blizz buff.
Thoughts, how many of you can run MP5+ with out life steal on your weapon? I am trying to upgrade my weapon at the moment but it does not seem possible for any reasonable price. I know i need to get a good chunk of crit hit damage on my weapon to start multiplying my dps. Also upping my crit as well. I feel stuck in a weird area of gear that any solid upgrades cost 100x the price
The best part about blizzard might be that it now procs APoC. I haven't done any testing but with a few items you could have 8-17 seconds of blizzard returning a massive amount of AP for some really high output meteor spam. Just a thought, not sure if it's practical.
I've been playing Blizzard/Meteor Shower/Forked Lightning off and on since around November, but now it's my full-time spec. The Blizzard buff and bug fix really helped to smooth out the build, as not only does it do more damage now, but it doesn't really stall out anymore like it used to.
I pretty much ignore IAS on gear and go all out crit, crit damage, int, and EHP stuff. IAS only helps with Forked Lightning in my build, so it's lowest priority. I'll invest in the stat later down the line to round out the build, though. But for now I can tear through MP5 VoA runs like it's nothing (Essence farming). Once I reach my goal of 1 million EHP or thereabouts I'll probably drop Diamond Skin Crystal Shell for something else (either Diamond Shards or Explosive Blast, or even Slow Time Time Warp so everything takes even more damage).
that's my build im using - even for like 1 week on live servers (pre 107) - and i did pretty well on up to mp7.
Arcane Torrent on slowed (due to blizzard) enemy groups is pretty underrated, cause its doing aoe damage AND u can "stutter step" and still hit things while moving (didnt know that before).
imo AT its even better (dmg-wise) than Magic missle ... if u can aim with it :P
Only thing that i change for PvE is an apoc triumvirate.
there are also damn low priced Skorn's out there that can do almost the same (or even more?!) damage as my spear/triumvirate!
as u can see, im just using 1 item with IAS - so im sitting on 1,3 attack speed - but imo its enough for this build to have an excaptable "attack-animation"
