Thanks for the reports. I've send this up to our team to investigate.

Do you know if you were outputting to a 1080p TV, or using 1920x1080 at 60Hz in terms of resolution?

Also, can y'all paste full system specs so we can see what type of setups y'all are using?

    1. Launch Diablo III.
    2. Put Diablo III into Windowed Mode if it is not already in Windowed Mode.
    3. From the system menu bar, select Help > Copy Support Information: http://i49.tinypic.com/33njnzn.png
    4. Paste the contents of the copied system information here (Command-V)

Magically,it is solved! I really don't know how though! I was switching between "windowed" and "fullscreen" modes! I use a 24" 1920X1080 Philips screen.

Thanks for the additional stuff. Can you still post some system specs to look into this further? We'd like to make sure it doesn't happen to others if we can address it.

It's weird. When I put it in windowed mode (Command M) it switched to 1080p windowed, but if I hit Command M to go fullscreen it stays in 1080p but it overlaps like its wider than 1920x1080

Ok. Logging in the game it will be set to 1080i. If you hit Command M to go to windowed mode it will switch to 1080p. Hitting Command M again will set it to fullscreen 1080p but if you log out you will have to do this process again.

Just and FYI, this is something we've confirmed.

  • [Mac, HDMI] The client switches the desktop resolution to 1080i when running in Fullscreen mode on a 1080p display.

Is this hotfixable on your side?

When I get more information I'll update the thread. So, to confirm, you're able to temporarily workaround the issue by toggling the window mode(s) right? Have you tried to use Fullscreen (window) mode to see if the issue happens?

If I log in set to either windowed modes its 1080p. If i log in Fullscreen its 1080i. If I hit Command M twice I can get it to be 1080p Fullscreen. If I then log out and back in it's back to 1080i. Hope this helps.

This can be worked around until a true client side patch is made for both World of Warcraft and Diablo 3.

In the Terminal application (found in your /Applications/Utilities/ folder), type the following line and hit Enter:

defaults write com.blizzard.diablo3 DesktopModeIsDefault 1

With this command entered, you should set your Desktop resolution to 1920x1080@60p (1080p in the Displays control panel/menubar pulldown) before you launch Diablo 3. Once set to this resolution, you can launch Diablo 3 and the screen should remain in 1080p if you are using Fullscreen mode.

To undo this change once a fix is in place, open the Terminal application again and type the following line, then hit Enter:

defaults delete com.blizzard.diablo3 DesktopModeIsDefault

This command will revert your Diablo 3 client to the default resolutions handling mode.
