If you're looking to group with other Diablo III players (and hopefully make some friends in the process), I'd suggest posting in the Looking for Group [PvE] forum or Looking for Group [PvP] forum. You'd also do well to let other players know what sort of adventures you're looking for, on what Monster Power level, and so on.

Good luck! :)

Don't you think it is a little absurd that players have to resort to the forums to find friends or groups? The majority of players don't even check the forums or want to bother to do that to find players. Blizzard should seriously consider hiring some temporary contractors to recode a Battle.Net 1.0 experience similar to D2, if not exactly the same for the PC version of Diablo 3. Just my 2c.

I think it's a bit absurd that in the time that Gosu's epic Salvation post has been up, there have been 13 Blue posts, but none has been on the #1 topic on the forums...

OP got really lucky getting a blue post, but I suppose it's easier to reply to people who aren't bitter yet.

Per your original question, I'd actually recommend checking out the Quests section of the Forums. I've made about 20 in-game friends there as we team up to get Achievements. Really nice people who freely lend gear to each other and form great hunting parties.

You have a point there. =(

Diablo III could certainly stand to use a better lobby system.

Probably because when they do post, it usually changes the thread discussion--sort of like how this one has changed.

My suggestion is to add to the current matchmaking system. Make it so players who start a public game can put a check in certain criteria so other players who are looking for the same type of run can be better matched. Some examples below:

Full act clear
Gold farming
Craft item farming (gems, and tomes)
Gear farming
Regular leveling
Paragon leveling
Monster power level
Infernal machine key farming
Infernal machine uber farming

The person who makes his/her game public will put the options on what he/she wants to do in his/her current game. The person looking for a game will automatically go to a public game that matches the criteria that he/she is looking for, with some of those options being a higher priority over others.

LOL.

Yeah, quit the game and come on the forums to try to find people! Genius!

You don't have to quit the game in order to post on the forums. In fact, l'm doing that now.

And no, it's not because the game is boring. I'm taking a quick break to rest my eyes.

That's just another band aid.

This game needs Named Games matchmaking. I want to name my game, period. D2 would have failed miserably with D3's current social UI.

Remember when you could see people's characters and what their gear looked like in the lobby? Wasn't that nice? Instead of having to click through 2 pages of stats to see someone...

Remember when there were custom channels that your guild/clan/friends could join and chat in and startup games in instead of one person asking someone random then asking someone random then asking someone random from their friends list?

How about a system that would allow players to form groups or clans which would in turn allow clan battles. Playing D3 as a team with people you can comunicate with adds a dimension missing in single player mode.

In Gosu's post a blue responded that they do plan to improve the social features but LIKE ALWAYS doesn't state exactly how. I much rather the lobby system of battle.net 1.0 and also for us to create and name our own games.
