Diablo® III

Massive Latency Spikes

90 Night Elf Priest
8930
Hello,

For the past couple of days, I have noticed that whenever I'm on Diablo III, my latency will go from a normal 50-100 msec to 200 - 500 msec. When this happens, my game slows down, and causes everything in the environment to freeze, but allows me to continue moving and cast skills. Also, during this time, the map tends to stop loading, leaving an imaginary wall and see-through floor.

Is there a reason as to why this is happening? Could it be my computer, or is it my internet?

Yeah, it really makes it hard to level or do efficient farming when you're frozen or dying half the time.

Well I can't be sure how long it would have been like this, i didn't start playing again right at 1.0.7.
I just hope I can find a way to fix the lag to start enjoying the game again.

i've had few to no lag problems even after 1.07. BUT...today(2-27-13)..impossible to play...slow motion effect...i believe the technical term is: "this sux"

I play on Win8 as well. The solution that I have come up with is disabling non essential processes in the task manager. It has resolved most of my latency problems.

Cheers

Hey Unholyfaith,

Thanks for your concern and help. I tried this and went to my task manager, but the only things open are my browser, and Diablo III. Essentially, the cause of this lag isn't random programs being opened.

I'm sorry to hear that you are still having the latency issues. =/ I'll do some research and try to come up with another solution for you.

Have you tried to flush your dns? Open up a command line and type:

ipconfig /flushdns

This may help. In the past, it has for me.

I'll try that now. However, there is no need for you to go out of your way and try to fix my latency, but I thank you for doing so. :)

Awesome. Let me know if you experience any improvement. I know, I just enjoy helping others. You can't really enjoy the game if you cannot play.

Same thing here, this is ongoing - the client doesn't work, it is lagged out or disconnects altogether, sometimes the background process hang on start. There is something wrong with this application and its associated processes.
