getting the same thing. maybe blizz just doesnt want you to report them because they dont want to do anything about spammers and they want everyone to shop on third party sites not the RMAH. i mean seriously this issue (the gold spam) has been going on for a long time. how hard is it to make a hidden filter to automatically deal with someone who spams something that looks like

WVVW.DIABLO3WALMART.COM-10000K=0.99$
WVVW.DIABLO3WALMART.COM-10000K=0.99$
WVVW.DIABLO3WALMART.COM-10000K=0.99$
WVVW.DIABLO3WALMART.COM-10000K=0.99$
Hardcore gold 10000K=4.2USD
Hardcore gold 10000K=4.2USD
Hardcore gold 10000K=4.2USD
Hardcore gold 10000K=4.2USD

^that is not hard to pick out as SPAM.

whats your point? you gave a vague response saying you are looking into the "error" itself and not the overall problem. more to the point of my post was that i was directly saying that i had got the same error AND that this spam problem has been going on long enough (almost since day one).

its time blizzards starts reading more on the posts instead of reading what they want and actually fix the cause not just the symptom.

I am sure they would LOVE to stop the gold spammers if they could. Most of the spam comes from stolen/hacked accounts. While Blizzard does have a login detection system that locks accounts for suspicious activity, and they strongly encourage users to get an Authenticator, they can't stop everything. If people would stop following poor computer security habits and stop visiting bot/gold selling sites then they would not get hacked as often. That would then mean the bad guys would not be using stolen accounts to spam!

That would leave the spammers with having to purchase new copies of the game to spam with...and most try to use stolen cards to do it. That is why Blizzard has a 72 hour (or until the transaction clears) restriction on social tools for new accounts.

Short of forcing everyone to get an Authenticator, what else do you suggest? I am being honest, not snarky. I hate it too but can't see away to completely avoid it short of some fairly draconian measures that may end up feeling punitive to regular players. I am sure they would be open to constructive ideas!

well on the note of personal security really its just a user thing. while i really hate to say this, most users (while i worked tech for Office Depot, Proctor & Gamble, etc.) are terrible in the common sense department. sure they will tell you how they NEVER do all this stuff, then when you go to look at the computer and tell them what you found all they can do is admit things.

anyway.. i cant say much there that isnt standard procedure. really thats all it takes. if an authenticator makes you feel safe go get it too.
-virus/spyware protection (microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes)
-firefox browser (download addon noscript, this is not available for explorer and makes it a lot safer)
-make sure to backup your computer! (acronis true image)

as far as the spam issue and the game. i want them to put in an active filter or a way the user to specify phrases to filter out. the active filter would work by scanning a post for similar phrases being repeated. obviously this could be easily thwarted by them making each line different and could potentially take up lots of resources if it scans every post. a user filter would probably be better since it allows the user to specify a phrase to look for and omit any posts in chat that contain it.
