A whole lot of us did not want a "hack-and-slash" game!

We wanted a D I A B L O game!

But...Diablo is a hack-and-slash game. (As is Diablo II.) :(

Diablo is a hack and slash games, not all hack and slash games are diablo games.

Compare Gauntlet to D2 for example. If I could sum up the community disagreement with this game in one sentence, it would be:

D3: Too much Gauntlet, not enough RPG.

Who posted this? Show yourself! D2 was definitely hack-n-slash.

A friendly advice for the dev!

Don't let the game itself spoil us :( I remember doing Izual for the first time... and there was a huge window saying "The Return of Izual" followed by Diablo saying "Look Tyrael, your old Lieutenant".

The Window alert is a nice thing, but pretty please, save it for our 2nd playthrough. I want to be surprised by the game, not have it handle to me on a silver plate! Thanks!
Show myself?

Here I am.

Diablo 2 was and still IS "much more" than merely a hack-and-slash !

You might argue that a diablo game is the same "type" of a game but it is really a lot more than that.

I think it may be more accurate to say that it is of the "dungeon crawler" type, but it is really MORE(at least it is supposed to be more)!

Games like "sacred" or "dungeon seige" may be similar "types" but can NOT hold a candle to D2!

The CUBE, the Socketing, the vast array of gear, and large amount of items which can be placed in those sockets, are REQUIRED to distinguish a DIABLO game from "just another hack-and-slash or dungeon crawler.
So many people upset because they didn't get what they preferred. They're bored. From doing an elective activity repeatedly. Call the local news, we've got a first world tragedy.

(and have collaborated in the past)

I remember when i was trying to find out the release date for this game. And i do recall it said

ahh there it is.

Under job listings, Blizzard Entertainment added a post where they are hiring a "Senior Software Engineer, Console PlayStation 3 Specialist" to join Diablo 3 development team.

Souce, http://www.gamersbook.com/scene/news/diablo-3-possible-playstation-3-platform-development/

So in theory, She is correct to say it was released for pc first and then ported to ps3/4 console w/e.

But that still doesn't prove why we don't have 8 players in a game, ability to create named games; trades 001, hc low lvl duels, hardcore loot duels (remember those) ^^ and such.. PS bring back ability to grief or your game will die.

Hopefully when expansion is released it will become the game we all know and love. WITH THAT SAID, i am going to stay signed off until then.
I think a lot of people don't really understand (or know) what Diablo 2 was all about.
A lot of those people are/were in the D3 dev team.

The most important question: Is it true that the PS3/PS4-version will have an offline-mode? An offline-mode without the evil AH/RMAH and better drop-rates?
Blizzard, you do realize if that's true it's a big big big slap in the face to the PC-players!!!
A lot of players (me included) has been asking for that since day one, and if the console-version gets it and not the PC-version... whoa, PC-players will be seriously "not so happy".
And for me, well, Diablo 3 was definately the last game I bought from you Blizzard.

No offense blue posters but i second this.

Hey Lyr... any chance you might respond the questions I formulated to ya?

Thanks!

Correct!

Although I beleive that at least Jay Wilson did understand because: Nephalim cube, talisman, mystic, rune stones as items, were all in this game at one time before its release.

We believe that many aspects of itemization in Diablo III work great, but that the system isn't perfect and can be improved. Overall, we feel like we've been making the item game better with each new patch, and definitely have plans to continue to that process. Some of the areas we'd like to focus on for the future include making Legendary items more "game changing" while still being powerful enough for players to want to equip them, introducing more meaningful gold sinks, and continuing to provide players with reliable ways to gear up outside of the Auction House.

I'm very interested to see how this will work without a massive overhaul of the current system.

I'm all for Legendary items feeling more unique, but I very much dislike a vast number of them being automatically BiS.

BoA items are a great start, but some of them should be drops from the game world instead of just being crafted. It would certainly make things much more interesting that way.

I think you are kinda just beating around the bush.
You still can't be 100% sure that some certain elements of the game are being designed (or redesigned during the game is being made) are taken into account because of a possibility of console port in the future.

Since I wasn't privy to every individual thought the developers were thinking as they implemented specific features for the PC game, it's possible that someone at some point thought about something related to console. (Though it may just have been whether or not they remembered to plug in their PS3 controller that morning.)

Even so, to counter a metaphor with a metaphor, I think a lot of players in this discussion can't see the forest for the trees. The point is that it wasn't on the PC design team to make considerations for console. Their focus has been and continues to be the PC game. It's the job of console team to make considerations for console as they adapt the existing game for the PlayStation.

I'll take the "we didn't know" stance, even though I'm sure that a lot of this happened more in upper management closed door talks (more than you are probably privy to)......

Riddle me this though....Why is the PS3 version just announced with an Offline Mode? Is that not a PR nightmare at this point? It was WELL known that every single person from the minute that it was announced to be online only for PC wanted the offline version. Why in the world would you guys all of a sudden announce the exact thing you slammed the PC version down for if the PC version was the "first one that was programmed for"?
