Death due to Waller Affix Bug, Please Address. (pic)

So, if I understand right, the issue is a waller's wall being placed directly on-top (not to the side, not in front of you, but directly on-top) of your hero, thus making them unable to move, period.

Here is some ascii art:

Here's the issue in all-caps: WALLS CAN SPAWN DIRECTLY ON-TOP OF YOUR HERO

And TLDR: walls can spawn directly on your hero

It's not even a free jailer affix. When this happens you literally cannot attack either based on what people are saying. At least when you are jailed you can still fight for your life at a standstill. A DH is literally molded into the wall and cannot do anything at all. If I died that way I would be pissed.

If you spawn 4 walls around me and I get trapped, fine. Good placement elite, you got me. 1 wall that glitches my character for no reason is a problem.

I understand. It never happened to me, really, to be merged with one wall. But ok, maybe it occurs... sound like a collision detection problem (but I can't believe it, as strong the 3D motor looks like, yep, Bliz make incredible work there).

Waller is not instant kill in HC.

I get trapped in Walls every so often even in higher MPs others would consider far out of what my gear would dictate, but from experience I know the timing on how to get out of the situation even when it's dire. It comes with experience. You just gotta live and learn man, your DH build had an indirect hole in it.

As far as survivability goes, DHs are imo one of the strongest classes in HC, that have the least reliance on gear. They can get through entire runs literally like a ghost, avoiding all damage flat out(and it is extremely fun trying for that everytime). The biggest trouble is over confidence, lack of foresight, or lags/DCs - :\.

I will agree with you that Walls spawning on top of you so you can't move is poor design, without a doubt. I always thought that being able to destroy the walls would be a proper solution, not via Wall health, but just a specific number of hits(sort of like those goat drums in act 1).

Most affixes are deadly in the right combo or situation. You didn't die because of walls, you died because something killed you while you were walled.

That may seem like a minor point but it's true. I'm certainly okay with better balance, but what is the point of an affix if it can't contribute to player death?

It isn't. Jailer completely roots you to one spot. Walls don't, and even if they do appear in a way that stops your movement, you still aren't rooted. You can technically "move" which means you inherently have more options than if jailed (which is realistically dependent on your class and build.)

Jailer stops you anywhere--walling is less effective if you stay away from actual walls.

That being said, OP, looking at your DH, man, I can see why you're ticked off, that character was pretty titted out.

Fair enough, I see what you mean. If the walls' orientation is the sole problem, I can see this as being a legitimate issue.

I would still recommend trying to stay away from actual walls when fighting wallers. I realize this isn't always possible, and maybe it's actually a good example of walls not working right, but they do seem to get funky when they spawn next to map borders (I mean areas you can't walk through, not XY borders of the map.)

As DH you can't fight back in a wall. Most DH attack are projectiles that are stopped by the wall.

I can't throw a spike trap at the feet of an elite. The trap is stop by the wall and fall in front of it. Sometime close enough to explode. But it hits only one elite instead of 2 or 3. But you can throw at spike trap at the feet of a mob in the middle of a crow. The trap can go through monsters but not wall.

With a wizard and spectral blade I can attack a monster behind a wall without being in melee range. This time this is the elite that can't fight back. So even if I am stuck I don't care much.

Ray of frost is stopped by wall. I don't know about disintegrate. Arcane sentinel go through wall (from waller or from decor). Wall stop some attacks and does not stop others.

Being stuck by wall (I mean stuck in the wall) can be a problem or not depending on classes and skills.

I've had walls spawn right on top of me and act like Jailer. I vote to have that "feature" removed.

Some birds plopped down that were waller/arcane :( got stuck in 4 walls, couldn't move... did Lingering fog 3x and walls still weren't down, got sliced :( Was tragic...

When will blizzard fix these walls? This is the third toon that has died to getting stuck in the middle of walls, very lame... It's like, the mobs just plopped walls ontop of me and i couldn't move at all, tumble didn't get me out and i was kiting them...

What is the definition of walls? Seems to me that it is supposed to "wall off a path of direction", But why are they spawned right ontop of me, ALL at once? Can't blizz have the walls come down at different times? Why are they spawned so close to my character, close enough to get me stuck?(like a jailer)


I look at your profile and what I see is someone who cant stop dying, who hasnt leveled once on his own in hc and who somehow has millions of cash in hc even though he has literally zero experience in hc... bottom line is, you're a gold buyer with a sc mentality, you dont belong in hc hence you get no love from us (thanks for being the gold sink though)...
Maybe once, just once actually level a char and play it, who knows maybe you'll rediscover hc mentality for what it is and stop bit*hing on the forums for dying...

You claim i have zero exp, yet I had 2 characters that are from 6/12 that i leveled on my own.
I leveled all of my HC character except 2 of them, which i leveled to 40 then got a PL 40-60.
I also run uber/PL/MF/ services on SC for gold, then simply 3:1 trade it for HC gold, nothing wrong with that.
Nice assumption though, join the bandwagon of haters.

The problem with Waller is when they spawn overlapping each other and in a sense "jail" you. Also, character pathing needs to be addressed so that when it seems you are "jailed" by non-overlapping wall, your character auto moves around obstacles to get to the target location (see League of Legends --> Anivia ice wall). I'm sure Riot would be willing to sell samples of code if the devs don't know how to do it.

Many a time have i been stunned by a single wall that arose from betwixt my thighs (in other words when a wall arises in 90o angle from my hero's sight i get suck). Other than that, i like it as an enemy property.
