For considering dropping $800 on ram, one of the cheapest PC components, I'm inclined to ask what your computer needs are?

Or are you simply trolling the most expensive parts you could find in an attempt to appear of baller status.

Edit: thumbs up for using TigerDirect

It's not a troll at all. I could have gone with quad video cards, but I don't think I'd need it. I also could have done the 3970X processor instead. Also it $800 on ram because its 2400 Mhz 8 GB per stick memory (the 2400 is OC).

the dual 7970s will pretty much destroy any game on the market right now. if this is solely for diablo 3 it's super over kill but hey it's nice to invest a good gaming rig for future games.

btw, I would withhold all purchase til the next series, AMD 8000s and others components are probably this year.

Overkill much?

And this has what to do with Diablo 3???

I spent less on my entire computer (with nice keyboard, 2.1 sound and dual monitors) than you did/could on that CPU/Ram combo and play most games just as good.

I am a firm believer that there is next to no point for most people to buy brand new computer parts for such a premium. Especially if we are talking about gaming. If you where doing heavy duty photo/video editing, CAD, etc. I could understand buying some of the latest or greatest. Buy for gaming its just a stupid waste of money. That setup will play any game at max settings probably for the next five years. Whats the point in that. Waste of money for sure.

You realize you could get the 3970x for 10 dollars more than the 3960x on newegg right? If you're going to go overboard with a processor, what in the fk is 10 more dollars, and if you're going to get that ram and processor, wtf are you doing buying a radeon card when the GTX Titan is coming out.

I went with the 3960X because it can perform better than the 3970X when being OC'd. Means the voltage is lower, less heat. According to OC comparison, I can OC the 3960X further than the 3970X. Basically the 3970X is just 200 Mhz higher, just like the 3960X just a tiny OC.

Also this is not just for gaming, if you encoded blu-ray movies to 1080p. You would understand that takes quite a bit of CPU power if you don't want it to take forever.

OP using this computer to play D3 PTR's.

My entire desktop cost $900 last fall to build (CAD), and I can play any game on max settings without a single hiccup. Not sure what you are planning to do with this. Maybe have multiple games running on 6 monitors each?

That processor costs more than my entire PC.

What a loser lol, coming here stroking your mighty e-*!**%%*!. You've obviously already made up your mind with what you're buying so what does it matter what we think? Obvious bragging, get a life and go use that money for a vacation somewhere. We don't care how good your specs are.

OP is definitely trolling. Someone with this kind of money would most definitely have spent $5.00 on the RMAH to upgrade some of his gear.

I came on here to get opinions on maybe improving on what I had thought would be a decent build, not to be insulted. I'm sorry I have money to build a high end computer? Also thanks to Timebeard for the GTX Titan info.. I will get 2 of those cards instead.

1. I do not have the money yet (waiting on lawsuit to finish, should be around may 15th).
2. I do not own a cell phone that is capable of using the RMAH (net10 prepaid isn't good enough lol, i know wtf..)
3. I already gave blizzard $60 to play this game they aren't getting anymore.

People will tell you go nvidia on the vid card but i say stick with the radeon(currently i have HD 6970). I have been with radeons ever since i replaced the voodoo card back in the day and would never change. I see my bro with his nvidia vid cards always having some sort of prob with games.

Ignore the haters i think you've thought it through pretty well. I originally spent about $4000 on my machine about a year or so ago. The reason is to get the best parts so you wont have to upgrade for a long time and it'll run any game in the near future.

All this to play diablo on max? LOL

And yes, my comment is relevant because you are posting this in the d3 forums...

lol what a waste of money. you are buying an over priced processor, ram, and a bunch of other crap when theres stuff out there way cheaper that preform just as good. it's nice how people don't do much research before buying things, they just buy the most expensive items and assume they are the best.
