If you've already enabled Monster Power in the options menu (Esc > Game Menu > Options > Gameplay > Enable Monster Power) you can adjust your MP level in the Quest Selection window under "Select Difficulty." The drop-down box is right next to where you choose Normal/Nightmare/Hell/Inferno.

You’re talking about two things here: Nephalem Valor and Paragon levels (click on the links to read more in our Game Guide). These are both mechanics you get access to once you've reached level 60.

> Nephalem Valor is a buff you receive for killing specific monsters, completing specific in-game events, and opening specific chests. The buff lasts for 30 minutes, persists through death, and stacks up to 5 times. For each stack you get a 15% bonus to your Magic Find, Gold Find, and +Experience stats.

> Any experience you earn after reaching 60 goes towards Paragon levels. These aren't like normal levels in that you won't unlock skills or runes. With each Paragon level (there’s a max of 100), though, you’ll gain a 3% bonus to Magic Find and Gold Find, and your core attributes will increase. (You'll also get some cool additions to your in-game portrait, which you can see here).

My question is.. why not just have it enabled and set to mp0 by default in the beginning? Are you guys really afraid someone accidentally turn it on to mp10 when playing HC the first time not knowing what it will do and got killed and got depressed so badly he will never visit AH again?

stop hiding everything in option gameplay, it's hard for new players.

there's always at least 1 person per day that says: what is MP? what is paragon lvl? ...elective mode?

add a check box in the skill tab for elective mode
add a check box in the quest selection screen to turn on MP

i have to agree its pretty stupid to hide everything in options > gameplay. I had to search to find out how to select MP level and elective mode.

I have to disagree.
The first thing I do when I load a new game is see what features are available in the options.
Sorry, but, I wanna know what I can do with the game.

the reason its hidden so that true casuals can have the feeling they beat the normal game once they are done with inferno.

While I completely agree, that's exactly what I do when I first play a game, that doesn't mean that under the options menu is the best place to include those two features. I bought D3 at launch, played for 2 months then shelved it until this past June.

I had no idea about monster power or elective skills for almost a month because I didn't also read the patch notes, (which is my bad, I'm not going to deny that). Having them on by default at the very least would be an improvement.
