Diablo® III

current pvp classes overall balancing

From my experience it seems like the classes counter one another like this (assume gearings are comparable):

Barb > DH
DH > Monk
Monk > WD
WD > Barb

I feel it's like a countering cycle like that. And also:

Barb = Monk
WD = DH
ALL > Wiz

Anyone here feels the same thing?
I think that's where future patchs should work toward to balance classes for PvP

For example, I think it's a bad idea to buff plague bats' damage, because it would make WD EVEN MORE > Barb in pvp; I think patches should be working toward the opposite instead.

DH > WD
WD > BARB
BARB v DH is back and forth.

Monk v WD is back and forth

Wiz gets owned by everything.

Here is my opinion for each subtype within each class (I will do Barb and DH for now):

(A)ggressive (more DPS, movement, and offensive skills)
(B)alanced (mix of both)
(D)efensive (more EHP, life regen, and defensive skills)

Barb (A) (e.g. uses WotB and HotA with Skorn):
even with Barb (A), beats Barb (B), beats Barb (D)
loses to DH (A), loses to DH (B), loses to DH (D)
loses to Monk (A), loses to Monk (B), loses to Monk (D)
beats WD (A), even with WD (B), loses to WD (D)
beats Wizard (A), beats Wizard (B), beats Wizard (D)

Barb (B) (e.g. uses Unforgiving and 100k+ DPS):
loses to Barb (A), even with Barb (B), loses to Barb (D)
loses to DH (A), beats DH (B), stalemates with DH (D)
loses to Monk (A), loses to Monk (B), loses to Monk (D)
beats WD (A), loses to WD (B), stalemates with WD (D)
beats Wizard (A), beats Wizard (B), beats Wizard (D)

Barb (D) (e.g. uses all defense passives and high regen):
loses to Barb (A), beats Barb (B), stalemates with Barb (D)
beats DH (A), beats DH (B), stalemates with DH (D)
loses to Monk (A), beats Monk (B), beats Monk (D)
loses to WD (A), loses to WD (B), stalemates with WD (D)
beats Wizard (A), beats Wizard (B), beats Wizard (D)

DH (A) (e.g. uses multiple DPS passives and lower EHP):
beats Barb (A), beats Barb (B), loses to Barb (D)
even with DH (A), loses to DH (B), loses to DH (D)
beats Monk (A), loses to Monk (B), beats Monk (D)
beats WD (A), loses to WD (B), loses to WD (D)
even with Wizard (A), beats Wizard (B), beats Wizard (D)

DH (B) (e.g. 2 piece BT, 100k+ HP, 200k+ unbuffed DPS):
beats Barb (A), loses to Barb (B), loses to Barb (D)
beats DH (A), even with DH (B), beats DH (D)
beats Monk (A), beats Monk (B), beats Monk (D)
beats WD (A), beats WD (B), loses to WD (D)
beats Wizard (A), beats Wizard (B), beats Wizard (D)

DH (D) (e.g. 4 piece BT, 120k+ HP, 100k DPS):
loses to Barb (A), loses to Barb (B), stalemates with Barb (D)
beats DH (A), loses to DH (B), even with DH (D)
beats Monk (A), loses to Monk (B), loses to Monk (D)
beats WD (A), loses to WD (B), stalemates with WD (D)
beats Wizard (A), beats Wizard (B), beats Wizard (D)

Good observation. I think overall it's pretty much the situation.

There is something that i disagree:
Barb (B) (e.g. uses Unforgiving and 100k+ DPS):

Balanced barb beats WD(B) with WOTB (or at least 50/50)

Balanced barb may has disadvantage against not always loses to DH(A) and Monk (A).

Yeah I didn't mean to say that the result is 100% always, just overall after a long series of duels. Also, you are right, players don't always fit into the different categories (e.g. WotB with a defensive set) but I was trying to highlight overall offensive, defensive and balanced playstyles.

At the moment, the metagame is trending towards defensive play as the goal is to stalemate or win. If everyone adopts this mentality, the whole PVP scene will be very stale very quickly. As of now, there are some characters that I cannot beat since my DPS is too low to penetrate their defenses, so my only option is to go full defensive DH tank with life regen, kiting, etc. which makes the duels very boring and the only thing that is killed is everyone's fun.
