Diablo® III

Lags/Setbacks/Spikes

Please fix servers, just spent 40 lives trying to kill act2 keywarden with insane lag and ended up getting no key. What a waste of my time. These servers are a joke

Same happens to me , 3 days since the game started to go through sporadic lag attacks , from 12 ms to 70 ms of latency for 4-5 sec , then you're dead....

Seems to be a really recent problem, i can't see no blues in the post about this subject so i guess it's gonna take some time till they fix this .

Pd: In spanish technical forum there are similar reports , all of them talk about it starting 2-3 days ago.

Pd2: European thread of people with this serious problem

if you are legitimately having that much of an issue you need to post information showing this.
try posting a 3d traceroute. it is a handy program that allows you to run a trace continuously while you are playing.

download the program here: http://www.d3tr.de/download.html
put the IP you want to trace in.
D3 addresses:
The Americas
12.129.209.68
Europe
213.155.155.233
Korea and Taiwan
182.162.134.1

after the trace post your screenshots of the graph and list tabs.
they will look similar to these:

Mi latency is very nice until i start combat, after i kill the bad guys, my latency goes back to green, if a new mob appears, lag spikes up. Sometimes i can't play for hours...

Everything else works fine, netflix, warcraft, everything...

if i teleport back to town, green bar...

I changed my router, modem. I use ethernet, tweaked my registry.. but i still find no solution to this...

any tips to solve this?

Never seen it this bad till today. WTH is going on,1200 latency then drops down to 40. Nice to know I get it in town too.

I too have been experiencing terrible lag for approximately 2-3 days. Similar to you, in town its fine, with no monsters, its fine. As soon as combat begins, It slows down to rush hour traffic speed.

I have never had any performance problems before. ever.

I reset my modem, tried to go LAN instead of wireless, reset router, did no router, updated video drivers and network drivers, did a PC cleanse, nothing seems to help. I am glad to hear others are having similar problems... well sorry for u guys, but at least i know it's not necessarily me!

like i stated above...
if you are legitimately having that bad of lag issues then provide information showing exactly what is going on. see my above post for details.

Ok got 2 traces..

1st is of my monk softcore in beginning of A3.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/834/trace2.png/
2nd is my main, HC WD
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/585/trace1.png/

I dont know what to make of those images, but it actually felt smoother on the Monk, and super laggy on the WD.

looks about the same tbh. just one is a shorter period.
in any case, it looks like you are experience network lag throughout the entire thing just going off those graphs. maybe you can post the list form as well? it helps to accurately look at the data shown in the graph.

At least in the US, school is out. Last Wednesday I started to notice an uptick in game glitches, rubberbanding, and even a few d/c's.

Prior to last week I very, very seldom had gameplay issues.

dont worry ill help translate it :D

this one actually doesnt look as bad as the last one you posted.
the graph shows a fairly regular trace, which is what we want to see. if it had lots of spikeyness and such then that could indicate problems! yours has a few really low bumps but that is normal.

the list shows a couple things. first it shows your ISP and the ping you are getting. through out your ISP network hops you can see a ping of between 10-34. pretty good i would think. second it shows the blizzard servers (ATT). this seems to be where you ping jumps up, but so does most ppls ping. you have a 95-181 ping on their servers. a little high for my taste on the far end but its completely playable up to around 300ms imo.

did you make sure to take those while you were lagging horribly? :P

if you did maybe its not your network.

Please fix this. Has been going on for the last 3 days for me and it seems to be getting worse. It's not my home network. Basically unplayable. Huge lag/ latency spikes. My latency bar is like a freakin traffic light going from green/yellow/red/green.. etc.

Also to note .. Cox Communications is my internet provider. There were issues with that a week or 2 ago for D3 players but it was cleared up. Just trying to think of additional information to help get me hackin' and slashin' again.

I also play WoW, and I have ZERO issues with lag/latency like I'm having with D3 if this helps any.

yeah when i took that one it was lagging really bad. I had to high tail it with my WD when some elites "magically" showed up. Maybe if it was Softcore i'd consider it playable while being highly unenjoyable, but as a hardcore player, it is unplayable.

So Moro, you said if thats the case its probably not my network...
does that mean I just have to twiddle my thumbs til blizz fixes their stuff?

in otherwords, should I just find something else to play til theres light at the end of the tunnel
