Diablo® III

What about adding different potions?

This was already once a part of the game in the form of 'Elixirs' and was removed in the beta along with the Mystic Artisan, Talisman, Cauldron of Jordan and Nephalem Cube.

Here are some pictures of Elixirs in early beta;

Here are some buff scrolls that were removed as well;

As with those one or two of those other features, I'm almost positive we will see this content return in the expansion.

I never played in the Beta. That looks like some really cool game content. But why remove it? Did they just want to shelve it for the expansion or some other reason?

craftable potions would be great... also a nice way to sink some more mats/items ;-)

- minor elixir of [str/dex/int]
cost: flawless square gem, 25k gold, mythic health potion
effect: increase [str/dex/int] by 34 for 10 minutes (stacks up to 5 times)

- major elixir of [str/dex/int]
cost: perfect square gem, brimstone, 100k gold, 5x mythic health potion
effect: increase [str/dex/int] by 54 for 10 minutes (stacks up to 5 times)

- elixir of stoneskin
cost: flawless square amethyst, 100k gold, a shield with +all res
effect: +50 all resist for 10 minutes

- elixir of enhancement
cost: flawless square gem of each color, brimstone, 50k gold, one rare or legendary item
effect: gain all properties of the item sacrificed for 10 minutes.

- elixir of spirits
cost: 10x vanishing dye, brimstone, 100k gold
effect: become ethereal for 5 seconds, making it harder for monsters to hit you. (cooldown 60 seconds).

cost/effect probably needs balancing of course, but I think the idea of craftable consumables has a lot of potential to balance the ecomomy.

Potions at the moment are useless players would benefit alot more if mystic potions healed a percentage of the players health even 30-50% I think it would help.

I'm not sure, could be just another part of the streamlining (or 'simplification' process if you will), or it could have been removed in order to be fine-tuned and reintroduced in the expansion. We'll won't know until the expansion I guess.

It's curious though that Grimiku said he'd pass along the suggestions considering this was already a part of the game in past iterations.

There are a lot of possibilities with potion effects, and I think it's an interesting topic. It certainly doesn't hurt to talk about your ideas, and I'd be happy to pass along your suggestions.

Please pass on a big "thank you" to the devs for not including a single one in Diablo 3, really adds to the overall depth.

Then perhaps this is one suggestion that they can deliver on ; )

I'd like to be able to upgrade my current potions into full juvies at a rate of maybe 10 mythic -> 1 FR pot for 1000 gold.

It would also be nice if gear could roll an affix like "reduces potion cool down time by x seconds" with a maximum of 50% reduction in time (to prevent spamming them).

As for the idea about adding effects to drinking potions, I think that would be an excellent thing to add to amulets. Maybe in a future patch, all amulets have a chance to roll one extra affix that pertains only to potion effects. This extra affix does not always roll on every amulet, but also does not affect the amount of regular affixes that the amulet gets if it does roll. If the mystic is ever added back, maybe she could grant the ability to add one of these effects to amulets that dropped before this patch was created.

The fact that little neat things ike this were never added, is just flat out insulting. Blizzard really dropped the ball on this game/ And seem to be taking thier sweet time adding even small QoL improvements. Ergo. dont hold your breathe..

I like the potions idea. Next to modding your item stats, new items and battlegrounds, it would be nice to have potions that make your tougher, do more damage, faster, etc..

Why not just add back in the elixirs you had in alpha? They were essentially shrines in the form of potions right? It would be nice to have more on-demand buffs. It would be interesting if they shared the health potion skill bar slot and cooldown, but provided big boosts in key stats.

Dyes for armor are already useless since you can't change legendary armor except making it invisible.

I just wanted to point out that this is still in the works. I know it's been a long time, but it's still on the way. I'll quote Vaeflare to give a little more insight on the subject.

We’re definitely working on making all dyes work for Legendary items. It’s not a quick-fix, though; as Fearophobias surmised, our artists actually need to go back and redo the textures on all the Legendaries in order to make them dye-compatible.

can I say this: Why waste time on reworking dyes, how many people really use dyes, the artwork on you character is so small and dyes barely change anything. work load should really be on something more "important" than reworking "useless" dyes

It even says in the game guide that potions grant various effects or something like that. Always thought it was funny that the game guide described something that wasn't actually in the game. Maybe they've changed it since. Not sure.

Yes, this is the perfect example showing how Blizzard's D3 team has indecision to the maximum.
