Diablo® III

Self-found league

Why is it so hard for a rather large group of people to play the game any way they want to? Does this really require different modes of play or a small amount of self control? There are many possibilities available to play the game any way you want to. Is it really that hard to do things like change the channel when you don't like what you are watching or stop eating something that doesn't taste very good. Personally I like having options available to me so I can play the game how I want to play it and I don't expect anyone to enjoy playing the game the way that I enjoy playing the game. When it comes down to it, it's all you. So enjoy it as much as you like.

It DOES come with RESPECT you DUMB **** . Do you think people that use the RMAH are respected more than someone who plays self found NO. The people I'd come across are people that are also playing self found who understand the value of it and not 13 year old kids that need meds such as yourself and that is WHY there would be respect you idiot. If I get a high level item through RNG its much more respectful than buying it off the f****** Auction House like an half twit such as yourself.

I hate to break it to you, but no one respects self found players except self found players. Anyone with an IQ over 90 realizes that lucking your way to success is not worthy of respect. I respect you self found players as much as I respect the last powerball winner.

Because we all respect people that use their credit cards to purchase items right. Oh also playing self found doesn't mean you just sit around and get lucky you have to actually play the game not click "confirm purchase" on the Auction House I'm sure that's highly respectable way to play the game. A lot of people are praised and recognized paragon 100 players they took the time sat down and grinded to get to 100 same thing for finding good items you have to sit down and grind a lot.

Clearly, we're not impressed..
Getting an item through a drop Is better than purchasing it, you got it for free(play time).
Do i need to find your daddy for you so you can get a hug? Maybe if he puts a picture you drew on the fridge you'll feel like a big boy? Grow up. If you want to play self found because you think it makes you more admirable, have at it, but keep your crap to yourself. We don't need to see your epeen, nor hear about how proud your eboner makes you.. and the people you claim Care so much are just losers like you, that need Blizz to give them a gold star so they can feel good about themselves for Some reason (I think its a safe bet to assume your real lives are pretty sad).

Again, those that play SF cause that's what they want to do, and do so not for others sake, but their own entertainment: Salute

Those that are using SF as a badge of honor and think they should get cookies: Re-evaluate your lives

Why did people play the ladder in D2 to race to get the top and have their names immortalized hmm? It's because people care about recognition but you remind me of the little kid that sees people who works for things and sits in the shadows brooding with jealousy because you're a worthless person so you attack them. You just want attention for being a douche its obvious. Keep playing your auction house simulator game k?

Exactly. Playing self-found is a choice, a way of playing. Kudos to everyone that tries and prevails.

To me, self-found ended with the idea of making D3 an online ONLY game. Plus, the game should provide an entertainment, not a martyrdom. Waiting for that next lucky drop has worse odds than winning in casino. Especially when you have a RL to take care of beside this game.

Unnecessary. You are not a martyr for going self-found. Play how you like, but you are not special because of it.

I really don't get the need for recognition with self-found people. The only one who cares that you are self-found is yourself! I'm wondering if what they really want is to have the temptation removed to not be self-found with restrictions via the UI thus making it that much easier. After all the only hard part about self-found is avoiding the temptation to dabble a little in the AH -"Just one gem, just one. Nobody will notice!"

Think about it, if you cannot buy items in the AH or RMAH, cannot sell items, cannot craft items, cannot trade items, cannot pickup items others have dropped, if these actions are blocked by the UI then, self-found becomes simple. You have no choice therefore it becomes meaningless. All it will take is a little more time to finish than non-self found mode. What can be easier than not using a mechanic that cannot be used?

I've beaten the game with a hero without using a single potion, not because I wanted to but, because I find them to be unreliable and have died too many times assuming when I pressed the potion button I would take a potion. So I stopped carrying them. Should I get a special star for that? No, a special achievement but that's about it.

If you are dedicated enough to do self-found, that's great. But it does not require a separate realm or special recognition. That's what achievements are for. If doing self-found took any amount of skill other than self-control, then sure give them their special little star. But it would have to require a significant amount of skill. And right now, it requires absolutely none. Many games have super hard core modes and all you get for them is an achievement or trophy. Why should self-found be any different. Being able to parade around in forums and in game with a special badge of honor is kind of childish IMO.

Let me be clear.
I'm not so much defending the "I used cash to buy top end gear" crowd, though i'm not mad at em..
I'm defending My, and many others, playstyle. That is, using the gold and items found IN GAME, from hours and hours of playing, to get other items off the Auction House *gasp*
in order to afford things i had to either play lots and amass gold through pickup, breaking down and selling matts, or finding an item that would sell. The last two require lots of playtime as well.
I wasn't just magically able to go to the AH and be BAM MP 6 ready, helllls no i had to play and play and play and play. and then spend a dumb amount of time making sure i got a good item for a low price. To be able to kill more things faster in a higher mp and get more drops to get more gold to get more stuff.. Does this not sound like the game youre playing as well?
It Was work.
It IS THE GAME.
You choosing to not use the AH at all does make the game harder (assuming you dont get RNG lucky, but that applies to all game modes), but it doesn't mean anything really. I can make the game harder for myself also in many many ways, gimping yourself dosent make you special. Just do it and keep your mouths shut and quit trying to take time from the devs that Should be working on making drops and items better. and quit trying to show off.
It just makes you look desperate and lonely for attention.

re
What are you defending against, noone is attacking the way you say you want to play. I could care less if you want to play and use the Auction House so what the f*** are you attacking me and other people for who want to play without the Auction House, I mention respect and you make it f****ing personal. A bit !@#$ing overboard a**hole

I think we should go the other way and give players a giant dollar sign over their head if they use the auction house. ;)

Hahhaha, I support this! :)

If you don't like the AH don't use it that simple.

Anyone can play self-found mode anytime they want. I would prefer Blizzard concentrate their limited resources on new content and itemization than on this self-found mode which really needs nothing done to play that way.

This reminds me how too often society coddles people too much so they feel better about themselves. For example... the last place finisher gets a ribbon too..... really???

I don't need recognition to feel better about they way I play the game. I just want to play the game and have more content to play. I believe Blizzard's limited resources could be put to better use.... making new content.

Happy Hunting!

well self found good for you but aside from this game i have a life .....i say whatever makes it fun for the player is the best fix....remember this is a game not a politcal office .who cares who bought stuff and who did not

Blues, would you consider adding a tag to the items themselves to indicate that the wearer is the original owner? For example, if you inspect a player using a Skorn they picked up, have some text in the hover-info that indicates the player found that Skorn themselves. The tag would disappear when the item is sold on the AH.
