Diablo® III

The irony of self-found mode

Lately around 90% of SF threads were created by angry opponents that want to do all they want to stop it from happening.

But Whenever a guy who is strongly opposed to the addition of a self-found mode (People playing in a way that I do not approve?! OUTRAGEOUS!), they just keep the SF discussion alive.

The longer the SF discussion stays around in the forums, the more likely Blizzard will decide "This is something that interests the community! We need to do something!".

It is not like it hasn't happened before. I remember back then where 9 out of 10 threads were started with the intention to convince people that a Reflect Damage nerf is not needed and used "logic" to prove it. That really worked out well ^^.

One can clearly see a division between the haters and the normal people on the forums. The haters will start anti-SF threads to try to kill the idea.

I have not seen even one Selfie ever start a thread to Remove the RMAH or some nonsense like that.

The devs aren't fooled, they see the potential for a SF mode of play.

Oh, the game is about skill. Rolling a die is different.
I'm sure you'll eventually realize how off you are.

It is not so much about your luck but about using your skill to extract the most juice out of the luck you have.

But please, feel free to make a whole new thread explaining why you think self.found is all about luck.

This, clearly, is why there SHOULD be a separate mode of play for us.

What if this was a sign of broken Itemization. If the damage between godly geared and "not-so-good" geared characters wasn't so huge, it wouldn't be a big deal.

I believe that the Self-found culture has nothing to do with itemization. Many of us would be able to play inferno at MP3 or 4 and then would hit a huge wall even with the present system. SF is not a solution for itemization but you are correct in saying that itemization does affect everyone.

SF is a style of play where we want to play with other like-minded players who do not trade or use either AH. You find or make all of your own gear. We need a mode to ensure that everyone we play with is legit to the tenants of SF, much like everyone who plays hardcore knows that no one playing has lied about never having died.

I'm not jumping through your hoops. Why don't you go check out my Godly 19kDPS Wizard, or any other character I have. You won't find anything special on them, trust me. I am proud of what I have found though and am glad that I have never yet bought/traded any items.

Ofcourse it's beneficial for the discussion the more that knows about it.
And SF being such a sweet topic, I'm sure any attention it gets is more likely to be positive than negative.

Ok... I tried but I got tired after the sixth screenshot, but as you can see, I didn't purchase the items my main wiz is wearing.

If you want my complete log, it is probably at least a hundred of AH screenshots. You would have to pay me money to convince me of wasting so much time taking screenshots just for a forum thread.

The unity I sold for 25m, Judging by your default SC2 avatar, I know it is probably more than you won in your whole D3 career (unless you flip, which is just boring), I found it in a drop in MP4. Hehe.

Perhaps the true irony is the fact that we asked for this by another method: Removal of the AHs

The Irony! I see purchased items. Doesn't matter how much they were, you are and never will be self-found.

I'd personally love a self-found mode but I'm mostly done discussing it on the forums. I'd love an avenue to discuss it constructively (like a SF forum) as every single SF thread here just becomes inundated with anti-SF comments that hold little ground constructively.

Ahaha.

I am not afraid of showing you the purchased items, because the point of the matter is to show that my main wiz is self found and those items were not equiped by him. I bought them because they were ultra cheap in the EZ mode AH, and similar to items I was intending to sell. By removing items from the market I stop noobs like you from flipping them or finding them for too cheap. As you can see, I am way too good at selling items, so I really have no idea what to do with all my gold. So some weeks ago I actually tried that "destroying items" "strategy". I got bored though.

I actually knew someone would be jelly enough to rush to conclusions, hence why I posted them. You know how easy it would have been to make a log that doesn't have them?
