Diablo® III

Looking for old website

Watching the new RoS site (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/reaper-of-souls/) and looking at the wonderful dynamic image of Malthael reminded me that there was another site with a similar image of Tyrael, but I couldn’t find it anywhere.

Does anyone recall its address? I would really like to get that .webm file of Tyrael.

It was the Diablo III official site before the game was released.

If I recall correctly, the animated image of Tyrael you're thinking of was used prior to the launch of Diablo III on our landing page, but it was later replaced with newer content. Unfortunately, I don't know of any plans to revive that particular page, but it was certainly a memorable page while it was live on our site!

^ I remember that pic, My first thought looking at that armor design was that destroying the soulstone had corrupted tyrael somehow !

I still wonder, his chest armor always have looked that spikey on the shoulders?

I've noticed that actually, sometimes it will be animated and other times it won't. But chrome does display the animated frame, perhaps try refreshing until it does? Or use the link found in the blog post;

The following are the direct video links to the Malthael animation:

Thank you, Psyklone and LordMurasama. The links you both pointed are great. I now have both Tyrael and Malthael animations, but unfortunately, in different formats: Tyrael’s in .wmv, and Malthael’s in .webm.

What I’m really looking for is that animation of Tyrael in .webm format, but I guess only the admins would be able to recover it, if Blizzard still have that file.

Ah, misunderstood what you were looking for.

The original Tyrael animation from the old Diablo 3 website is actually a Shockwave Flash file (the webm format wasn't used back in the 2011 time frame). But all of the old media the original teaser site linked to is still there. I fortunately had saved the page source and also have the original flash saved which made it easy to track down the url. The following is for the Tyrael animation.

I'm not sure if someone had posted this already, I didn't read all the posts.

Pretty much the same thing but in a wallpaper.

Hey guys, just wanted to show you my animated desktop of Malthael.

Used Dreamscene Activator and some converters... Quality is not the best, maybe 8/10 but it's pretty neat anyway.

Here it is:

Cuz Chrome is meh.

Nah j/k. It might not support that layer properly. IE, FF and Chrome all support the majority of popular web standards but they all have their own they support that the others don't.

Indeed! I actually spoke with one of the people responsible for creating this awesome Tyrael image earlier today and he pointed to this very same location as well. Glorious! :)

I wish Tyrael would at least wear his hood again. =(

He looked so awesome when you couldn't see his face!

True fact, humans are more scared of people that hide their face than anything. Faceless people / creatures illicit the most fearful responses! NOW THAT was an angel that strikes fear in the demons of hell.

Once you can read their emotions, they suddenly become a lot less scary.
