I simply have more fun in a lone environment because I enjoy the follower.
Just give the host of the game the ability to take one of his or her own. It will help the game FAR more than it hurts. If you don't think so, I would love to hear why.
My Enchantress is equipped with the Maximus, and my Templar with Azurewrath. It is a real blast to have either, and for the life of me I can not fathom why followers are not just a permanent fixture of the game.
100% agree. Its really discouraging that we cant use followers in multiplayer yet they have NPCS running with us in random parts of the game that we have no control over. Mercenaries (as they were called in d2) were a great part of the previous game and their bonuses really brought a lot of great group combinations to your party. Its very sad that everything blizzard tried to change from d2 is slowly coming back. I think this game could potentially be great, but i often find myself dozing off as I play with no real ambition other than throwing up 10 items on the AH and hoping they sell. Anyways, back to my point, followers should absolutely be a part of the game in multiplayer and it would be nice to be able to stack multiple follower buffs in a group as well (not the same type of buff of course but all 3 different follower buffs) This would premote diversity and the need to have all 3 followers equipped in case your party calls for you to have a specific one.
Please stop trying to be so different from the game that made the franchise great, d2. A clear indication of this influence is being brought to us with paragon 2.0 where they bring back stats and a point leveling allocation system. Hopefully in this expansion, we not only see this new paragon system take off so that we have a reason to play other than - i reiterate - putting 10 items on the AH, but we also get things like runes, runewords, multiplayer followers, etc.
