Sep 21 ►►Unable to start Diablo 3 Launcher [Solution]◄◄ I have been seeing reports that players are having issues running Diablo III by clicking the game client's icon in the Diablo III folder, and after having experienced the same by testing on my installation, I have determined the cause and found a series of steps that will resolve this issue for you and allow you to once again use the Diablo III icon to launch your game as you did prior to this patch: 1) Navigate to the folder containing the Diablo 3 game executable and the Diablo 3 Launcher. 2) Delete the file Diablo III Launcher (move to trash via CMD-Delete/Backspace). 3) Run the Battle.net Desktop App. You should already have this as it is required to run Diablo 3 as of 2.0.1. If your BDA is set to automatically apply updates it will download a new fully functional Launcher app and place it where it belongs in your Diablo III directory. If your BDA is set to the Never automatically apply updates option, then you will need to manually click Update and the BDA will then perform the update operation. The issue should now be resolved regarding the Diablo 3 app failing to run the Launcher. It seems that the initial patching download from the CDN servers had a corrupt file (the launcher) which appears fixed as of today and deleting and redownloading it resolves this. Good luck, and enjoy the great loot hunt! :) ________________________________________________ Technical Support MVP Prime Directives: 1. Serve the public trust. 2. Protect the innocent. 3. Mar 8 Low FPS in Windowed (Fullscreen) Mode We're aware of an OS bug where running some games in Fullscreen (Windowed) mode an cause a severe drop in FPS in-game. We anticipate this is addressed in the next OSX build. In the meantime, there are two different workarounds that may help! 1. Running the game in Fullscreen Running the game in fullscreen should not have the FPS degradation above. This does limit some functionality, such as ease of tabbing out of game without redrawing your desktop and Applications. 2. Minimize all background windows using Flash (including Battle.net App) Flash applications drawn behind a Windowed (Fullscreen) application cause FPS loss. The Battle.net Desktop App uses Flash elements as well, so minimizing this on launch can help. 1. Open the Battle.net App > Settings. 2. On the General Tab, locate the When I launch a Game dropdown. 3. Select Close the Battle.net Window 4. Click Done to finalize your changes.Glaxigrav0 Mar 8
Apr 9, 2015 Patch Day, the B.net App, CASC and You :) Updated for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Patch 2.4.0 As of patch 2.4.0, Diablo 3 will not run at all on 10.8.5 or earlier. 10.9.5 or later is now required to play Diablo 3 (original and Reaper of Souls). All support prior to 10.9.5 has ended and operating systems older than this will not be addressed. Special Note for Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) Users As of Diablo III patch 2.0.1, if you are running 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), you will no longer be able to play Diablo 3. The minimum operating system is now 10.9.5. Snow Leopard is locked out of the game completely and you must update to at least 10.9.5 in order to play. 10.11.5 or later is recommended, though Mavericks (10.9.5) should also work without issue. 8 GB of RAM or more is strongly recommended for optimal gameplay. Also, as of patch 2.0.1, the Launcher will initiate a Tools patch which will download the new Battle.net Desktop Application if you have not already installed it yourself using the Battle.net Desktop App link in your Account Summary page. Once downloaded the Battle.net Desktop Application will then launch and will be the only way to start Diablo III and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. The CASC Filesystem Patch 2.2.0 brings with it a new filesystem called CASC (Content Addressable Storage Container) to replace the aging tech found in the MoPaQ (MPQ) filesystem. CASC enables Blizzard to perform much quicker updates (when warranted) and very importantly, eliminates the cache found in the MPQ system. The elimination of the cache means no file redundancy, faster asset loading, and generally superior performance to the current MPQ system. There are, however, slight changes to troubleshooting steps, which are outlined below with updated information. There is also one directory within the Diablo III folder that you do not want to touch, ever. That would be this directory: /Diablo III/Data/data Under no circumstances should you ever do anything with this folder except for the permissions reset outlined in the steps below. Failure to heed this warning will cause you to have to reinstall the game. CASC is not fault tolerant if you edit, remove, or lock any of the files in the /Data/data directory. This directory contains indexes for the Data.xxx files, and because each installation is unique, you cannot use files with the same name from anyone else's install to "fix" your install. If this directory is altered in any way by the user it will require reinstalling the game from scratch. Patch Day and Global Play On the day of a Diablo III patch, Global play is not available right away because each of the three regions, The Americas, Europe, and Asia each receive their respective client updates at different times. Generally it is The Americas first, then Europe, and finally Asia. If you are using a client (any language) designated as belonging to The Americas region, you will initially only be able to play in the same region, as Europe and Asia have not received their updates yet. This usually persists for approximately sixteen hours, at which point you'll usually be able to log into the Europe region. After approximately one day (twenty four hours), you should have full access to the Asia region as well. If you are using a client (any language) designated as belonging to the Europe region, once the patch is deployed to The Americas region, you will not be able to access Global Play for that region. You will be able to log into both the Europe and Asia regions until their respective patch update cycle begins (commonly referred to as patch day maintenance). If you are using a client (any language) designated as belonging to the Asia region, once the patch is deployed to The Americas, you will not be able to access Global Play for that region. You will be able to access the Europe region until its patch update cycle begins, and you will also be able to log into the Asia region until your patch update cycle also begins. Patch Day Update Looping and Global Play On patch day, under normal circumstances, for those logging into their own home region after the new patch is deployed for that region, gameplay usually starts without a problem. However, for those utilizing the Global Play option (accessing either of the two regions that is not your home region) things can become problematic. As noted above in each of the region examples, you can only access certain regions during the patch update cycle. If you start Diablo III after successfully updating to the new patch and attempt to access a region that has not yet received the update, your client may go into a "patch loop" where it says you need to download a new patch to play every time you log in. Your Battle.net Desktop Application will check for the update, but since you have already actually received the update, it will read "Game is up to date" and the Play button will light up as normal. In order to keep this from happening, you must log into only your home region during the course of the patch update cycle. Only when you see all three regions' service status pages indicate that the patch cycle is complete will you have full access to the Global Play feature. The same situation can occur if you have not yet received the patch update but the region you are attempting to access has already received the patch update. As with the previous example, you should avoid attempting to log into any region other than your own home region. __________________________________________ Battle.net Desktop Application Related Issues Note: Before attempting to use the following troubleshooting instructions, first run the Battle.net Desktop Application (if possible) and select the Diablo III icon and then click the Options pulldown menu directly beneath the Diablo III logo in the main window and select Scan and Repair option. Under no circumstances should you attempt to play the game before installation and/or patching is complete. If you do so, you will corrupt the files being installed. It is safe to click Play only after the progress bar has disappeared from the Battle.net App main window. Stuck at Initializing: If you are attempting to patch Diablo III, but your Battle.net Desktop Application gets stuck on the "Initializing..." phase, the following instructions should remedy the situation: Delete the following files/folders: /Users/Shared/Battle.net/Agent/Agent.db /Users/Shared/Blizzard/Battle.net /Users/Shared/Blizzard/Battle.net.temp (if present) /Diablo III/Diablo III.mfil (if present) Once done deleting those files, make sure all permissions are set properly in Diablo III's main folder by doing the following: 1) Get Info (in the Finder) on the Diablo III folder. 2) Click the padlock icon and enter your password to authenticate yourself. 3) For the Everyone group, set it to Read and Write. 4) Click the cogwheel icon and select Apply to enclosed items. Select OK to confirm your action. 5) Close the Get Info Window. 6) Repeat steps #1-5 on the /Users/Shared/Battle.net folder. Now run the Battle.net Desktop Application. The Battle.net Desktop Application will then begin again at "Initializing...", but should only stay there for a few moments while it determines which files are in place and which must be downloaded. Let the Battle.net Desktop Application fully update the game. Do not click Play until the Battle.net Desktop Application window shows the word “PLAY” in the big button at the bottom of the window and there is no progress bar on the screen at all, indicating that Diablo III has fully patched and/or rebuilt its cache. __________________________________________ Failed to Create/Download a Required File: If you see this message, you may have an issue with permissions or a problem with the Battle.net Tools. The solution to both problems is the same as the steps for solving the Stuck at "Initializing..." problem,. The full process is outlined as follows: Delete the following files/folders: /Users/Shared/Battle.net/Agent/Agent.db /Users/Shared/Blizzard/Battle.net /Users/Shared/Blizzard/Battle.net.temp (if present) /Diablo III/Diablo III.mfil (if present) Once done deleting those files, make sure all permissions are set properly in Diablo III's main folder by doing the following: 1) Get Info (in the Finder) on the Diablo III folder. The Battle.net Desktop Application should begin downloading properly at this point and you can proceed normally. Take careful note of the underlined part in the section that tells you which files and folders to delete. The /Diablo III/Update folder can be safely discarded and allowed to be rebuilt by the Battle.net Desktop Application. As with all other Battle.net Desktop Application related troubleshooting steps, do not click Play until the Battle.net Desktop Application window shows the word “PLAY” in the big button at the bottom of the window and there is no progress bar on the screen at all, indicating that Diablo III has fully patched in order to avoid file corruption. __________________________________________ Diablo III Crashes due to Corrupt Files If you are experiencing crashing when logging in or performing certain actions in the game and this can be repeated with fair certainty, you probably have one or more corrupt files. The following instructions will show you how to delete the potentially problematic files and allow the Battle.net Desktop Application to rebuild the game's indexes. Delete the following files/folders: /Users/Shared/Battle.net/Agent/Agent.db /Users/Shared/Blizzard/Battle.net /Users/Shared/Blizzard/Battle.net.temp (if present) /Diablo III/Diablo III.mfil (if present) /Diablo III/Data/config /Diablo III/Data/indices Once done deleting those files, make sure all permissions are set properly in Diablo III's main folder by doing the following: 1) Get Info (in the Finder) on the Diablo III folder. Let Diablo III rebuild its cache. It can take between 15-60 minutes depending on the computer and drive being used. Do not click Play until the Battle.net Desktop Application window shows the word “PLAY” in the big button at the bottom of the window and there is no progress bar on the screen at all, indicating that Diablo III has fully patched and/or rebuilt its cache. Oct 17, 2014 OS X 10.10 Yosemite - Stuttering Mouse Cursor Hail and well met, and happy new OS day! We're currently aware of an issue with the Confine Mouse Cursor option for all of our games which will result in a stuttering or jittery mouse on OS X 10.10 Yosemite. We are working closely with Apple to resolve the issue, and hope to have a solution soon. In the meantime, setting your Confine Mouse Cursor option to Off will resolve the issue. We understand that this will result in issues with some games where scrolling is necessary (Heroes/Starcraft II). Should you wish to leave Confine Mouse Cursor on, you may find that enabling VSync reduces (but will not eliminate) the amount of stuttering that you encounter. Thank you for your patience while we work on this issue! We'll provide updates as soon as they become available.Glaxigrav0 Oct 17, 2014

2d Stairs Dont work Stairs don't work when in a greater rift, tried leaving the rift, tried portal back into rift. Each time, the stairs to the next level do not work. As it is I cannot complete the rift as there are not enough baddies on the level to finish the rift. This is not good, cost me a rift stone and no goodies... bah!Mthylynn0 2d
2d Why a Blizzard Folder on home ? With the last Battle.Net update the launcher has created a folder named Blizzard on home directory, why ? Inside this folder there is only caches, I think it should reside on ~/Library/Application Support as suggested by Apple guidelines. Nico.Daeron0 2d
2d Mouse Issues I am using a Macbook Pro About a month ago I started diablo up and my mouse stutters all over the place randomly. If I hold down the left mouse button it seems to be okay, but as soon as I let it go it stutters all over again. I tried buying a new mouse, replacing my moousepad, reinstalling diablo 3, and reinstalling Razor synapse. Using other mice. It doesnt matter what moouse I use it is the same thing,,,, HELPGreezon8 2d
3d Memory Leak? I can play D3 for about an hour...over that period, the gameplay slowly deteriorates, starting with small graphics stuttering, then gets a bit choppy, then complete freeze of the OS. The cursor becomes the colorful spinning wheel and the only way out is a hard reboot. Rinse, repeat... D3 is the only application that does this. 3.7 GHz i7; 16 GB DDRAM; 2 Gb Nvidia graphics card; 27" iMacDeMike1 3d

6d Diablo III has delays, lags and is not fluid Greetings, very long time i was waiting for some patch, but my problem still persists, so i will try to ask. When i play Diablo 3, it's full of little time delays, minor hangs or lags. When i open inventory, it takes about 1-3 seconds to load items. It's very annoying. Few months ago i reinstalled my MacBook, but no change to game (fresh install). Is there some general setup i'm missing or i can try? I tried to switch resolution to low (about 1280x800), disabled shadows, but nothing helps. Diablo is the only game i have problem with. All other games run great. Thanks for any tip how to solve it and enjoy Diablo III again. Nov 21 No sound in game Hi there, I'm currently running OS X 10.7.4 and while sound seems to work fine everywhere in the operating system and in a game like say Sauerbraten, it doesn't seem to work in Diablo 3. I don't know what there is for me to configure outside of poking around the sound settings in System Preferences and MIDI stuff. I'm pretty new to Macs so excuse me if I'm overlooking something. Thanks in advance for any help.Spartacus29 Nov 21
Nov 21 D3 Crashes (no error messages) Originally, I thought the crashes only occurred sometimes when I hit the "Start Game" button to enter the game from the character selection screen but it just happened during the loading screen for a normal rift a bit ago. -Specs- OS: macOS Sierra (10.12.1) Model: Macbook Pro (13-in., Mid 2012) Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB Storage: 500 GB - 5400 rpm (Only ~110 GB being occupied) So like I said, basically I hit the loading screen and around the time when the game would normally bring up the gameplay screen, the game instead just disappears and it's gone. There isn't really any freezing or stuttering or anything, the game just closes. If I were to close the game myself, it would be at least a minute or so before "all my resources were freed up" and my computer would stop acting really sluggish (45 seconds to a minute to bring up Firefox?). This is not the case with this "crashing". Basically, the game disappears and my computer instantly acts like it was never running it in the first place (10-15 seconds to bring up Firefox). I've already done some troubleshooting steps (which I thought fixed the problem, but it didn't). I tried moving the preferences folder and did the repair/fix scanner thing (nothing was wrong). I haven't tried reinstalling yet (this is a fresh install for the first time on this system). With my specs, the gameplay is kind of weak and stuttery in general but especially when there is lots of effects happening (even with lowest settings possible). The loading screens take a long time too (30 secs or so, I'd say). Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I figured I'd mention it. Any help??Acryce5 Nov 21
Nov 21 Stuck on login? For some reason I can't seem to log in today? It was fine last night... First, Battle.net takes forever to open. Then when I open D3 and try to log in, it gets stuck on the Authenticating Server window. A "Cancel" button would pop up like 1-2 mins later. I click on it. Try to log in again and the game tells me I'm already logged in.MeowImmaCat1 Nov 21
Nov 20 Mouse and Resolution Issues Hey Support Friends, Everything had been working well on my Retina MBPro until the latest patch. Now, unless I run Diablo/HotS in Windowed Fullscreen mode, my mouse stutters and moves all over the place in-game. And when I try to change the resolution in Windowed mode, the entire game doesn't know what to do and sizes either way larger or way smaller than my screen size. Hoping this is a bug that you all are aware of (it's effecting more than one Blizzard game for me) and are fixing soon!cap0 Nov 20
Nov 17 Drunken mouse Hi, I'm having a problem with cursor when monsters shows up on screen. In city (all acts) its fine and smooth. When dungeons are empty, its ok too. Nov 12 Diablo 3 Launcer fail Tried playing Diablo 3 today and the launcher fails to load the game. I get the message: "Whoops! Looks like something broke (or crashed). Please try restarting the Battle.net desktop app and/or your computer." I tried this, but the problem persisted. I followed the link to more help: "BLZBNTAGT00000002", and followed the instructions there, but still no progress. My system is running Sophos Antivirus software, so I turned off on-access scanning since some claimed that could be the problem, but no help there either. I'm running Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11.4). Any help would be much appreciated!procyonacmi0 Nov 12
Nov 11 Cursor Sticks to Edges of Screen So I know this topic has been discussed, but the changing of resolutions from fullscreen --> windowed(fullscreen) does not solve this issue as stated in a previous topic. The cursor sticks to the left, right, and top edges ONLY when I am holding the left or right mouse button down to cast the skills I have assigned to my left and right mouse buttons. As long as I hold the left or right click down and I do not move the cursor to the edge of the screen, I do not have this issue. This is utterly painful to play my barb and dh as I cannot always keep my mouse from touching the edges of the screen. Is there anyway to fix this? I've read through the known fixes and nothing worked for me. BTW, this was never an issue until I updated the game to a new patch and all the sudden this started happening. EDIT: I also have to keep flushing my DHCP every time I get on D3 because I always get the error saying there is server maintenance going on.Ryan8503 Nov 11

Nov 9 Unable to join game at this time My friend who isn't the most tech savvy is having an issue with his characters, and I've been trying to help him to play diablo 3, but he's started having a wierd bug. When he tries to play on the American server, he either gets the message "unable to join game at this time" or the game crashed. We've reinstalled the game, deleted the cache, ran game integrity checks, and ran a disc integrity check, and none of them fixed the issue. The disc integrity check found an issue that lead to agent.exe updating and patching, but that didn't resolve the issue. The place where I decided I'm totally lost and need help is when we set his server to europe, and it let him create a character just fine and log in to play. This issue came out of nowhere about a week ago without any patching or anything else that would have seemed to cause it. A fresh reinstall of the game let him log in one time before the game got a dead freeze and then started up again. He's on a Mac with OS Sierra and heroes of the storm is running fine. I'm not sure what to do next to help him troubleshoot this issue. Does anyone have any idea of what could cause this issue? If I need to get any sort of log files or complex system specs, let me know what they are and I'll walk him through it to get them in this thread.Razziel1 Nov 9
Nov 8 Mac OSX Sierra crashing I am playing on a MAC with OSX Sierra and every time I attempt to change the difficulty of the game from the character select screen the game crashes and does not give me any sort of error message. Each time it says Diablo 3 is starting an update, fetches the encode table, and says the game is now playable. I haven't noticed crashing at any other point. Any idea why this is happening or how to prevent it?Bitt3 Nov 8
Nov 7 Mouse stuttering issues post Sierra update I updated my computer to MacOS 10.12 Sierra yesterday, and noticed an issue with my mouse immediately. I use a Logitech Proteus G502, and the cursor seems to jump around while running the game. I will also post this problem in the Logitech technical forums, but it is unclear if this is a game issue or mouse issue. The problem is repeatable if I perform a click-drag action with the left mouse button (as in moving menu items around, or moving normally on the map). The only round-about-avoiding-the-problem solution I've found is to use force move, and try to use whatever skill is on my left click as little as possible. Any information would be much appreciated since the left-click to move is pretty integral to the game, and it is nigh unplayable for certain classes...SamKD4 Nov 7

Nov 7 Crashing [Patch 2.4] I have experienced several game crashes when leaving a game to menu screen. It's a permanent beach ball and I'm required to 'force quit' the D3 client in order to kill it. This has only occurred post 2.4 I am running El Capitan.Ghostpos127 Nov 7

I can be kicked from the game out no matter what location I'm at and how long I'm logged in or the game freezes up and I have to force quit the application. Oct 11 Can't change language. I've been away form D3 for a few month, and when I launched it yesterday (to collect my seasonal items) the game language switched to French (I'm French, my system is in French, but I'd rather play games and watch movies in English). I tried to change the language back to English in-game: the list is empty! I quit D3, then tried from the battle.net client: the selected language for D3 was already English. I tried to switch to French then back to English: nope. I then tried to reset game options: neither! I'm running out of options: how can I set the game back to English?gregseth3 Oct 11
Oct 6 Starter Edition won't upgrade to Standard Downloaded the client on the night of the 14th and used a guest pass to register. Apparently there is only 1 client to install the game (no distinction between starter/standard) On the 15th, logged in to battle.net and entered the standard account. I can clearly see the the copy of Diablo 3 as "Standard Edition". Launched the game, logged in and can still see the "Upgrade banner" on the top right. Went all the way to the black king, and as soon as I did the last blow, I got a big dialog prompting me to upgrade. Did download the client again, installed second time, no dice. Completely removed the game, installed from the hard copy DVD that I bought, still getting the same "upgrade now" banner. Haven't been able to find a similar post, which makes me wonder if I'm missing something. Did send an email via the "Customer Services" option within the game and awaiting for a reply.Cue86 Oct 6
Oct 2 Game is unplayable after Sierra update I have an iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015) model with 3.3GHz Intel Core I7 processor 16GB memory, and 512G SSD The graphics is Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200 1536MB I've been playing the game fine on it for months and months. After the upgrade to Sierra, the game takes minutes to load, then lots of black screens while loading for more minutes. Once the game logs me in, my character is shown but it looks like 3 frames per second. The animation is ridiculously slow and jerky. I've tried changing all the graphics settings in the game to minimal values, and it doesn't get much better, if at all. Also, my SteelSeries Sensei wireless mouse works fine on desktop and for much of the loading of the game. Once the game is loaded, the mouse moves in random places and speeds, not at all tracking my use of the mouse. I updated my Java to the latest version, no luck. The battle.net client uses 200% of my CPU :) Please tell me you're fixing this.DennyCrane6 Oct 2
Oct 1 after patch 2.1, freezing, skipping and lag. Hello and thanks for your time. I'm sure you've heard this story before. Before the patch, everything was honky dory, and even immediately after, things were ok. Then suddenly, I started this freezing, skipping thing. My character continues to move around, everything else freezes for a few seconds, then wham, back into the action, where ever it's moved on to since my existential moment. I will provide all computer specs shortly. To continue, I tried to remedy this problem by lowering all of the settings (fail), resetting everything possible on my computer (all the option-y things on restart... still fail), booting up without any other programs (holding shift on log in... fail), following the suggestion in the solution at the end of this post http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1578120 ... failed. edit: I also hit the vsync thing, unclicked the min and max fps and check my in game fps (58 when freezing first started and steady)... all fail. Actually, after resetting the smc, I've run into horrible, choppy lag on top of the freez-y, stutter-y thing. Any help would be appreciated. Sep 27 Anyone else having really long load screens? once in a actual game its fine, but the load screens after making or joining a new game are anywhere from 40-minute. i've never experianced this before in D3. Running Mavericks.Noobalo14 Sep 27
Sep 22 Error 3007 I'm sure people have posted about this a thousand times, but it is immersion breaking and incredibly annoying to be blown out of my game without warning in literally in mid-stroke. There's no lag, no other indications of problems, just BOOM, "Your connection to the battle.net server has timed out. Error 3007" (or somesuch). Every single time I've been able to log back in immediately (after the game finishes being frozen for a few seconds and not responding when I click OK), but obviously my progress to date in whatever rift or area bounty is gone. Particularly annoying when I'm most of the way through one or the other. I'm not running any anti-virus, all indications are my connection is stable, and the problem is completely random. Some days, I'll get zapped almost immediately, others, within the first hour, others, I'll be able to play for hours at a time without problems. This doesn't seem to me to be a network issue, but rather some kind of weird authentication timeout problem, like the server doesn't see I'm actively engaged in playing the game, so it just logs me out. I have followed the advice on the support page to log into General Chat (Barbarian, in my case, at this point), although I never actually use it (totally solo player). I'm an systems and networking professional, so I've been dealing with these issues for twenty years, and trust my intuition about this. Is there some kind of subtle bug in the code? Is the timeout sensitivity set too high? Is there something I can actually do about this? It isn't annoying enough, yet, to get me to quit the game, but it definitely detracts from my enjoyment considerably. ...and I'm convinced, again, that it has nothing to do with my network connection (high speed Comcast, connected via Airport TimeCapsule wifi set up as access point instead of router), as it is simply not reproducible, and no other indications of stability problems exist. Especially since it rarely happens again within even an hour.santacruzer0 Sep 22
Sep 10 Game freezes on Silver Spire Level 1 I'm not sure when this started, probably in the last month or so (I've been on the PTR quite a bit), but in 2.4.1 with the latest patch on my Mac (Fall '11, OS X 10.10.5 with all security patches), whenever I take a character on Bounties & Explorations and I go to High Heavens, Act IV, Silver Spire Level 1, the game locks up. It doesn't seem to matter what character I use, I've only got 4, but soon after entering that level, the whole Mac locks up. I have to force start the machine, force quit of the app doesn't work. This does not appear to happen in any other part of the game.BusyGamerDad3 Sep 10
