Inarius in D3? bit of spoiler

Lore and Story

I believe this screenshot is from demon hunter spotlight video, when you look at the quest she is on, it says "The Imprisoned Angel". So could this is Inarius? anyone know of any other angel that was imprisoned in the lore?
That would be pretty cool if we have a quest to release Inarius from his prison ... Ive not read the books but the internet info Ive read about him makes be wonder why the Angiris Council would just hand him over to Mephisto to torture like that..
It is most likely Auriel, imprisoned by Imperius for opposing his will.

There are possibilities besides Inarius.

Izual was imprisoned in the body of a demon and left to suffer for centuries until freed in D2. The quest could be referencing his history, and not necessarily refer to an angel currently being imprisoned.

More recently it has been mentioned that Maltheal the Archangel of Wisdom has gone missing, and no one knows where to. Perhaps he has been captured/imprisoned.
Going clarify my answer a bit.

In the opening cinematic showing Leah's dream the only three archangels that appear are Tyreal, Imperius and Auriel, the archangel of Hope.

It can thus be assumed that they make appearances in the game (others may or may not, but these three do for certain).

In the Book of Cain it says that Hope will be "swallowed by despair".

The other two are accounted for, Imperius being an antagonist ("turns to wrath") and Tyreal being the meteor ("falls upon the world of man").

So I'm going to put my money on Auriel.
Well to our knowing Inarius was dragged into Hell by Mephisto for his crimes at the end of the Sin War trilogy, but it would be doubtful Blizzard revised the location of his mirror prison from Hell's domain to being moved to the mortal realm.

Any who, Howling Plateau did ring a little bell, so a quick web search and one diablo wiki detailed it one the noted locations from GamesCon 2009's demo.

  • Combine with knowledge of the Borderland map (provided in the link above) and the known Act II conflict, one could also strongly interpret "The Imprisoned Angel" also as to a affectionate term of a beloved lass captured by a evil warlock needing saving rather than as the literal thing...
Sorry to post a bit old thread but... It´s most likely Inarius

    1. We get enchantress in act 2 -> she follows "the prophet" -> the prophet is Inarius
    2. http://media.diablofans.com/images/news/2012/april/ss/big.jpg this is in act 2, and its propably enchamtress quest
    3. In lore only Inarius is getting prizoned
Time to break this forums cherry!!! The Black Soul Stone can imprison angels. So it could be any of them I personally thank it might be Tyreal. I think thats probably what'll piss Valor off.
